Special 2-component adhesive for polyethylene

With the special adhesive PEprofi of our own brand S-Polybond low-energy plastics, especially polyethylene, can be bonded excellently. The particularly impact-resistant PE adhesive consists of two components (resin and hardener) with a mixing ratio of 10:1 and is free of solvents. The filling quantity is 50ml. A glue gun for two-component adhesive cartridges with a round flange (S-system) and a mixing ratio of 10:1 is required for application.

S-Polybond PEprofi is especially suitable for bonding technical plastics that are otherwise difficult to bond, such as PE-HD (high-density polyethylene), PE-HMW (PE500, high molecular weight polyethylene) or PE-UHMW (PE1000, very high molecular weight polyethylene). Polyethylene of different types can also be permanently and safely bonded together, e.g. PE-HD with PE-500.

Furthermore, our S-Polybond bonds PEprofi Polyethylene also with other plastics such as PP, ABS, rigid PVC, PC, PMMA, etc. Even other materials such as metal, glass or wood can be bonded with the 2-component adhesive, however, depending on the material, we recommend the use of our cheaper 2-component adhesives Plexus MA310 or Plexus MA300.

Properties of the polyethylene adhesive PEprofi

PEprofihas been specially developed for bonding polyethylene to each other or to other plastics, as well as for potting, sealing or encapsulating this plastic, which is otherwise difficult to bond, and provides a permanent and secure connection of the parts to be joined. After curing, the temperature resistance of the special adhesive is between -55 °C and +80 °C. The recommended processing temperature, on the other hand, is between -55 °C and +80 °C. Thanks to the very low viscosity, our PE adhesive can be mixed excellently with the supplied mixer nozzle and applied very easily and precisely.

Processing of the polyethylene adhesive PEprofi

To apply our special adhesive for polyethylene (e.g. PE-HD, PE-HMW, PE-UHMW) on a 2-component basis, a special application gun for 2-component adhesive for the mixing ratio 10:1 is required, which is suitable for 50ml double cartridges of the S-System with round flange. Before applying the adhesive, surfaces to be bonded must be cleaned well with a suitable cleaner, for example our S-Polybond PLASTICcleanThe surfaces must be cleaned to remove dust, grease and oil or other contaminants that impair the adhesive effect.

Optimum strength is achieved with an adhesive thickness of 0.2mm to 0.3mm. After application, the double cartridge can be resealed with the supplied cap in order to use the remaining adhesive at a later time. Clean the parts to be joined from excess, swelling adhesive, as well as impurities on the glue gun or cartridge with a suitable cleaner before the adhesive sets, because after the adhesive mixture has set, it is difficult to remove mechanically.

NOTE: An adhesive mixer is supplied. The mixers are no longer to be used after application and must be disposed of properly.

Safety instructions for processing polyethylene adhesivePEprofi

Before using the 2-component adhesive PEprofithe safety data sheets of the two components and the technical data sheet must be observed. Also observe the instructions for personal protective equipment. Use the PE adhesive only in well-ventilated rooms and avoid contact with the skin or eyes. Always keep the adhesive cartridge closed when you are not using the adhesive and keep the adhesive out of the reach of children.
