Our S-Polylight extension cable with a length of 5 metres has ready-to-connect screw connectors to extend the connection cable for our DR-SP3W outdoor LED spotlights to the LED power controller and is simply plugged in and screwed between the recessed spotlight and the original connection cable. The screw connections have a seal and are protected against dust and splash water so that they can be used outdoors, for example as patio roof lighting.

By using several extensions, the supply cable from the HUB to the recessed spotlight can be extended to up to 15 metres.

Features of the extension cable for our mini LED spotlights

The extension cable is a fully pre-assembled able that is used as an extension between the connection cable and the recessed LED spotlight. It has a total length of 500cm and is equipped with robust insulation to protect the two individual wires, which have a conductor cross-section of 0.1mm. The screw connection has an integrated rubber seal and thus ensures a cable connection that is protected from dust and splash water.

The pre-installed plugs with bend protection are both protected against reverse polarity. This means that the plug cannot be inserted the wrong way round into the coupling of the recessed spotlight. The same applies to the coupling with the small notch into which the connection cable is plugged. These connectors are precisely matched to our DR-SP3W LED spotlights and can only be combined with these. The extension cables are not suitable for other recessed spotlights with a fixed plug connection.

WARNING: The extension cable is only suitable for connecting our dimmable DR-SP3W recessed LED spotlights with a single wattage of 3 watts, which we offer in the housing colours anthracite grey (RAL 7016), silver and white.

Connecting the LED spotlights with extension cable

No tools are required to use the connection extension as it is already equipped with the necessary screw connectors. The cable has a plug on one side with a small groove on the lower side of the plug and is later connected to the recessed spotlight. This is easy to recognise as the plug has an external thread. On the other side is the plug-in coupling, which is connected to the original connection cable of the LED spotlight, which is plugged into the HUB of the LED power controller. This side of the extension cable has a screw connection with an internal thread and seal, as is also fitted to the LED spotlight itself.

First extend, then relocate
To make it easier to relocate the connection cable through the small 28 mm hole for the spotlight, we recommend connecting the connection cable to the connection extension beforehand. This ensures that the cable is not accidentally pulled too far into the hole and it is no longer possible to connect the plugs. To do this, insert the plug of the connection cable into the coupling of the cable extension and tighten the screw connection by hand. An integrated seal protects the cable connection from the ingress of dust and splash water. The small notch on the underside of the extension cable coupling prevents the positive and negative poles of the cable from being reversed.

NOTE: It is perfectly possible to combine several connection extensions to increase the total length to up to 15 metres. To do this, repeat the previous step.

First the spot, then the HUB
Once the cable has been laid correctly and loosely, the LED spotlight can be connected. The extension cable is connected to the short connection of the recessed spotlight in the same way as the cable connections of the connecting cable and the extension. Here too, a small indentation in the coupling of the LED spotlight is helpful to ensure that the cable is connected the right way round, which is important with a DC voltage, as otherwise the LED of the spotlight would not light up. Once the extension has been screwed hand-tight, the recessed spotlight can be inserted into the hole provided. Once all the spotlights have been installed, the connecting cables with the small white plugs can be plugged into the ports of the HUB of the LED power controller and the lighting can be switched on.
