You can conveniently configure our acrylic glass sheets in green online as individual laser cuts at favourable prices. The rich grass-green colouring is achieved by adding special colour pigments. This means that the green acrylic sheets are still transparent and translucent. However, the high pigmentation reduces the light transmission by about one third to 61%. With our modern laser part configurator, laser cuts in almost any shape up to a size of 1500mm x 980mm are possible. Acrylic glass in the laser cut is characterised by a very exact dimensional accuracy with very low tolerances. During laser cutting, the cut edges of the green acrylic sheets have a very even and smooth surface with a gloss comparable to the smooth surfaces. The high quality of the cut edges is made possible by the use of cast acrylic sheets.
Our green acrylic sheets are completely dyed through. This ensures that the surfaces and cut edges have the same intense green colour. Our sheets in laser cut are without exception solid acrylic glass and not twin-wall sheets or double-wall sheets.
NOTE: Our green acrylic sheets in transparent version are provided with a protective film on both sides, which can be easily removed after finishing the processing.
Acrylic glass is a versatile plastic that is characterised by a whole range of positive properties. The sheets, which are transparent in their original form, are available in almost all colours and a wide variety of designs through the addition of colour pigments. Among the essential properties of acrylic glass, which are often synonymous with the brand name Plexiglas®, are the high surface hardness and the UV and weather resistance. Due to its high surface hardness, acrylic glass is much less sensitive to scratches than most other plastics. A disadvantage, however, is that PMMA is more brittle and can break comparatively easily. Nevertheless, acrylic glass has up to 10 times the impact strength of real glass of the same thickness. For this reason, acrylic glass is also often used as plastic glazing. Another reason for this is the significantly lower weight of the plastic sheets, which is about half that of real glass.
Acrylic glass is often referred to as PMMA in technical terminology. This is the abbreviation for the chemical name polymethyl methacrylate.
Our green acrylic sheets are made of high-quality, cast PMMA, which has the same properties as our transparent acrylic glass. Only the light transmission is reduced to approx. 61% by the addition of colour pigments. This also affects the transparency of the grass-green sheets, which is also slightly reduced. Due to their excellent weatherproof properties, the green acrylic sheets can be used both indoors and outdoors. Thanks to the very good UV resistance, there is no risk of the strong green colour fading or the plastic sheet becoming brittle, so that the sheets can be exposed to the weather for years. The temperature range for use is between -40°C and +80°C. This means that acrylic glass can also be used at temperatures below zero or high summer temperatures.
Acrylic glass is one of the optical plastics that are used wherever real glass is too heavy or too expensive. Moreover, acrylic glass is very easy to process and can be deep-drawn into almost any shape. The green acrylic sheets are no exception and so the colourful sheets are not only used as glass substitutes, but in almost all areas where there is a high demand on the appearance of the surfaces. Especially the coloured sheets in translucent design are mainly used in the advertising industry. For example, for individual illuminated signs, eye-catching designs for trade fair stands or for visually appealing advertising displays, as well as in the production of advertising materials. Green acrylic is also very often used for direct and indirect lighting or luminaire covers. The appealing green sheets are also used in a wide variety of ways in furniture construction, gastronomy or for decoration.
Thanks to our configurator, acrylic glass in green can be ordered online as a desired shape in an exact laser cut without any special knowledge. The vector file required by the laser is created automatically. You simply select your desired shape from one of the many basic shapes and can adapt it further if required. For example, circles, rings, stars, triangles and squares with any angle or rectangles with one or more rounded corners can be created very easily. The preview adjusts immediately after your input. This way, you always have full control over the configuration of your green acrylic laser cuts. Just as easily as the basic shape can be created, hole drillings can also be added so that you can mount your acrylic advertising sign directly without having to drill yourself.
We can produce your laser cuts as quickly as you have configured them, because the finished files are sent directly to the laser systems without any detours. This ensures fast deliveries and, thanks to the greatest possible automation, the laser parts can also be produced very inexpensively. The costs for your acrylic glass cuts are also calculated in real time, similar to the preview. Quantity discounts for higher quantities or a higher total weight are deducted directly so that you always receive the lowest possible price.
NOTE: The size for our green acrylic laser cuts is limited to a maximum format of 1500mmx980mm.
The post-processing of acrylic glass is very simple and does not require any special tools, so that commercially available machines and devices for woodworking are already sufficient to adapt the solid sheets to your own needs. Due to the high precision of our laser cuts, further trimming should not be necessary. In principle, however, this is possible with a conventional jigsaw or circular saw. It is best to choose a saw blade with medium toothing and a medium speed for best cutting results. For drilling the green acrylic sheets, we recommend using a metal drill. For all finishing work, however, it is important to ensure that the sheet is placed firmly on a level surface. Otherwise, vibrations, which are also casually referred to as fluttering, could lead to chipping or even breakage of the entire sheet.
TIP: On request, we also laser individual laser cuts according to your drawing from our green acrylic sheets quickly and inexpensively.
Thermoforming is a popular method for making acrylic glass, for example by deep-drawing it into any shape that is retained after cooling. Temperatures between 150°C and 190°C are required for this. How long the acrylic sheets have to be heated depends on both the sheet thickness and the exact temperature. Besides deep-drawing, bending or folding is also one of the thermoforming processes. Acrylic glass cannot be formed or bent when cold, because the brittleness of the sheets can cause them to break. However, the protective films must be removed before deep-drawing, as they cannot be deep-drawn and only serve to protect the surfaces.
In principle, acrylic glass can be bonded excellently. Due to its low resistance to solvents, our cold welding adhesive PMMAprofi from our own brand S-Polybond would be ideally suited for this. It should be noted, however, that this does not generally apply to laser-cut acrylic glass. If laser cuts are made from extruded acrylic sheets, stresses are released which, in the worst case, can cause stress cracks when they come into contact with solvents. However, since we only use cast acrylic for laser cutting, which has no internal stresses due to the special manufacturing process, there is no need to worry about stress cracks when bonding with solvent-based adhesives.
WARNING: Lasered acrylic glass in green should not be cleaned with alcohol, as this can cause stress cracks on the laser edges.
Our CO2 laser systems in closed design can do more than our configurator. From more complex shapes according to your construction drawing, letters, numbers and company logos to complete lettering in any font, there are (almost) no limits to the shaping of our laser cuts. Even the creation of laser engravings on green acrylic glass plates is easily possible with our lasers.
