Acrylic glass red fluorescent laser cut

Our acrylic sheets in red with fluorescent edge are available in laser cut up to a maximum format of 1500mmx980mm. The sheets are red transparent and have a light transmission of approx. 12% due to the strong red colouring. The special feature of the fluorescent sheets is the luminescent effect on the cut edges, which is particularly effective during laser cutting. In order to guarantee you laser cuts in perfect quality, we only use cast acrylic sheets for our bright red acrylic glass. The special manufacturing process allows us to achieve a polished, smooth cut edge that almost resembles the surface of the sheets. This has a very clear effect on the luminous effect, especially with the fluorescent sheets.

The red acrylic sheets are completely coloured through and have a high and consistent pigmentation. They are solid sheets and not twin-wall sheets or double-wall sheets.

NOTE: Our fluorescent acrylic sheets in red are equipped with a protective film on both sides to protect the surfaces. However, this can be easily removed after processing is complete.

Properties of the acrylic glass in red fluorescent

Fluorescent acrylic sheets are available in our online shop in various colours as laser cuts. The special feature of these special sheets is that the cut edges have an effect comparable to shining a light source on them. This luminous effect is made possible by the addition of special colour pigments and comes into its own best at dusk and in indirect light. Especially as a wind chime in the garden, as a brochure stand or as a whiteboard combined with special board markers, the bright red acrylic glass panels make for a special eye-catcher. These sheets can also be used in the field of advertising technology. For example, for coloured light installations or for eye-catching product presentations.

The surfaces of the acrylic sheets are transparent and smooth and have a reduced light transmission of about 12%. The reduced light transmission is due to the high pigmentation in the colour red, which is necessary for a strong, rich colouring of the plastic sheet.

Acrylic glass is the simpler name for polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA for short) and is better known to most people under the brand name Plexiglas® instead of the plastic name. Acrylic glass is a UV-resistant plastic that is equally suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The resistance to UV radiation contributes, among other things, to the fact that the laser parts do not become brittle. Another advantage of the UV resistance is that the bright red colour pigments do not fade even with permanent outdoor use. The red acrylic sheets are waterproof and weather-resistant and can withstand winter temperatures of up to -40°C. But even at high temperatures of +80°C, the laser blanks made of fluorescent PMMA can be used permanently.

This makes the colourful acrylic sheets with a luminous effect perfect for radiant decorations in the garden, on the balcony or on windows.

Thanks to true-to-scale real-time preview, you always get an exact overview of the effects of your entries. As soon as you have finished configuring your laser cuts and the order is completed, the data is converted into a format that can be read by our laser and automatically transferred to the corresponding laser system. Thanks to the optimised processes, we are not only fast, but also extremely cost-effective.

With our laser service, however, you not only benefit from the easy-to-use configurator. Especially with transparent plastics such as acrylic glass, laser cutting has a positive effect on the cut edge, which does not appear rough and cloudy but smooth and polished. Especially with fluorescent acrylic glass sheets, the luminous effect is particularly effective. This is also the reason why we offer these plastic sheets exclusively in laser cut.

Post-processing of laser cuts from acrylic glass

Cutting and drilling acrylic glass with woodworking tools is possible without further ado. However, this is associated with a reduction in the luminous effect of the transparent sheets with fluorescence, which is why we do not recommend machining methods. If you still want to saw the sheets, you can use conventional hand-held circular saws or jigsaws for cutting. A medium-density toothing of the saw blade leads to the best results. However, acrylic glass can break, so the sheet should rest firmly on a flat surface and be fixed in place. Thanks to our laser cuts, which we perform for you with very high precision according to your configuration, cutting the acrylic sheets to size should not be necessary, however.

The bright red acrylic glass can be glued to make colourful decorative objects from different coloured laser parts, for example. It must be said that laser parts made of extruded acrylic glass release stresses, which can lead to stress cracks, especially with solvent-based adhesives. However, since we only use cast acrylic sheets for our laser cuts, where no stresses occur within the sheet due to the special manufacturing process, no stress cracks occur when bonding with solvent adhesives. If you want to glue your laser blanks, we recommend our acrylic glass adhesive PMMAprofi.

Acrylic glass can be deep-drawn and due to the fluorescent effect, an exciting, thrilling effect can be achieved by thermoforming, especially with the red acrylic glass sheets. For thermoforming, a temperature range between 150°C and 190°C should be selected. Please note that the protective films are not thermoformable and must therefore be removed beforehand.

WARNING: Laser cuts made of acrylic glass must not be cleaned with alcohol. This can lead to stress cracks on the laser edges.
