Configure acrylic glass yellow laser-cut online at low cost

You can configure our yellow acrylic glass sheets online up to a maximum size of 1500mmx980mm easily and cheaply as individual laser parts. The acrylic glass in yellow is transparent and has a very high light transmission of 84% despite the strong, yellow colour. In order to guarantee you the best possible quality for your laser cuts, we only use high-quality cast acrylic glass sheets. Due to the special manufacturing process, the sheets have no internal stresses and are therefore much more suitable for laser cutting. Due to laser cutting, the cut edges are smooth and polished and are comparable to the glossy surface in terms of evenness and gloss level.

Our coloured acrylic sheets are all made of solid core material and are fully coloured throughout. This ensures that the cut edges and the surfaces have the same yellow colour. We do not use hollow core or double web sheets for our laser cut acrylic sheets in yellow tint.

NOTE: Our yellow acrylic sheets are transparent and have a protective film on both sides. This serves to protect the surfaces, but is not thermoformable and must therefore be removed for thermoforming.

Properties of the transparent acrylic glass in yellow

By adding yellow colour pigments, transparent acrylic glass becomes a transparent, yellow plastic sheet with the same properties as the colourless version. The coloured sheets in sunny yellow have very good UV and weather resistance. As weatherproof sheets, the yellow plastic sheets are suitable for permanent outdoor use without any problems and can be used at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +80°C. The natural UV resistance of PMMA prevents the colour from fading even in prolonged sunlight, so that you will enjoy the strong colouring for many years. PMMA is the abbreviation for the chemical name polymethyl methacrylate. However, acrylic glass is almost only called this in the plastics industry. For most people, this plastic is probably known as Plexiglas. However, Plexiglas® is merely a brand name of Röhm GmbH for acrylic glass, but is not infrequently used in common parlance as a term for transparent plastic sheets.

Acrylic glass has a very hard surface and is therefore relatively insensitive to scratches. For the same reason, PMMA is also relatively brittle, which means that the sheets break more quickly than less hard plastic sheets when hit or knocked. In direct comparison with normal glass, however, the impact resistance is 8-10 times higher, which is why transparent acrylic glass is very often used as a plastic sheet. These properties also apply to yellow acrylic glass, but due to its intense colour, it is less likely to be used as a plastic glass substitute.

Despite the intense yellow tint of our acrylic sheets, a still very high light transmission of about 84% is achieved. This makes the coloured sheets perfect for large-format corporate advertising, e.g. in the form of illuminated letters on company buildings. The translucent sheets are also frequently used for colourful advertising stands, for example for new products, or for printed matter. Yellow acrylic is also very popular for engraved door signs, lampshades and lighting elements. Intense yellow acrylic glass is also excellent as coloured shelves in display cabinets and furniture, optionally with lighting.

Post-processing of the acrylic laser cuts in yellow

Basically, you do not have to cut the sheets to size, because your laser cuts are lasered exactly according to your specifications. Basically, the yellow acrylic glass sheets are very easy to process and do not require any special knowledge or tools. Simple tools that are also used in woodworking, such as a jigsaw, circular saw or cordless screwdriver, are sufficient for cutting. When sawing, routing or drilling, make sure to set a medium speed and a medium feed rate so that the sawdust does not heat up too much and fuse with the cutting edge. For sawing, we recommend using a saw blade with medium coarse teeth. This ensures the smoothest possible cutting edge without chipping or splintering. For drilling, we recommend using an HSS drill for metals. To ensure that processing can be carried out without damaging the sheet by chipping or breaking, acrylic glass should always lie firmly on a flat, smooth surface and be fixed in place so that it cannot flutter.

Deep-drawing is a widespread method for producing finished plastic parts such as bowls made of coloured acrylic glass. As a thermoplastic, PMMA is ideally suited for thermoforming and so the yellow plastic sheets can also be bent or bevelled very well. It is important here that the sheets are heated sufficiently, as acrylic glass can otherwise break quickly due to its brittleness. The ideal temperature range for thermoforming acrylic glass is between 150°C and 190°C. How long the sheets have to be heated depends on the selected thickness and the exact temperature used.

For bonding the yellow laser blanks made of transparent PMMA, we recommend our acrylic glass adhesive PMMAprofi. This is made possible by the use of cast acrylic glass. Extruded acrylic, on the other hand, has internal stresses due to the extrusion, which are released during laser cutting. This can lead to stress cracks when bonding with solvent-based adhesives.
