Our silver construction profiles 20x20 groove 6 are compatible with I-type system profiles. The aluminium profiles are made of anodised aluminium in 20mmx20mm and have four grooves with a width of 6mm. The silver surfaces of the aluminium profiles are smooth and have a satin anodised layer that contributes to an attractive appearance. The anodising also increases the already very good corrosion resistance. The benefit of it ist hat the construction profiles can withstand all weather conditions and are therefore also suitable for long-term outdoor use. Particularly in combination with our significantly stronger 30mm or 40mm system profiles, or with existing profile constructions made of I-type system profiles, the small profiles can be used as additional struts to significantly increase the stability of constructions for roofing, as privacy screens or as individual items of furniture in the garden. Our construction profiles are fully covered with shrink film to protect them from damage during processing.

In view of the profile thickness of 1.5 mm, the weight of the system profiles is very low, but they still impress with comparatively high values for the section moduli and the moments of inertia. This is made possible by a particularly high-quality EN AW 6063 T5 aluminium alloy. This makes the profiles very easy to work with, allowing you to implement countless DIY projects both indoors and outdoors.

Properties of the construction profile 20x20 groove 6 in silver anodised

The aluminium construction profiles in 20x20mm groove 6 are made of a high-quality and extremely rigid alloy of the type EN AW 6063 T5, which is characterised by very good rigidity and excellent resistance to corrosion. The silver-coloured surfaces of the compact system profiles are evenly smooth. In contrast to non-refined aluminium, anodising produces a homogeneous surface with a silky matt sheen. In addition to the significantly uniform colouring of the surfaces, anodising also has the advantage of forming a thin protective layer that further increases the already very good corrosion resistance of the aluminium profiles. This makes our construction profiles suitable for long-term outdoor use, without the effects of weather on surface quality or load capacity. The square cross-section profiles have rounded outer corners for type I system profiles, thus enabling combination with all other I-type aluminium profiles. However, the round corners are mainly for appearance and thus contribute to an appealing look. The radius of our 20mm-wide construction profiles is 1.5mm.

The construction profiles made of 6063 T5 aluminium are very light but extremely stable system profiles with very compact dimensions. The construction of the profile is extremely delicate, which is primarily due to a profile thickness of 1.5mm. With a weight of just 461 grams per metre, particularly light constructions are possible and thus perfect for all applications where every gram counts. For example, to build customised frames for mobile robots or drones. However, this does not mean that the constructions have to be less rigid. In fact, the value for the moment of inertia (I_x, which provides information about the torsional strength, is very high at 0.71 cm, I_y) ⁴ in direct comparison with other profiles of 20 mm in width. Also, the selection modulus (W_x, W_y) with its 0,71cm³ is noteworthy. A higher section modulus means that the profile can absorb larger bending moments without failing or deforming significantly.

The construction profiles are manufactured for us in a length of 2005mm using the extrusion moulding process in accordance with EU standard EN 12020. Continuous controls with regard to the dimensional accuracy of the production length and the profile thickness, which at 1.5mm is quite high for a 20x20mm profile and is responsible for the very high stability, ensure a consistently high quality. The 5mm plus tolerance is to ensure that the profiles, which we offer as standard lengths in 2m and 1m, as well as cut to size, are never shorter than 2000mm. The profile has 4 open grooves. These are arranged in the centre of each side of the square construction profile. The groove width is 6.2mm, which corresponds to a system profile with groove 6. The groove depth of 6.1 mm is also typical. This is particularly important if the profiles are to be combined with system components from other manufacturers. The groove is very slightly chamfered on both sides. This small depression makes it possible to close the grooves flush with the surface using our opal plastic cover strips. This can be useful, for example, to prevent dust from collecting in the profile or to glue an LED strip behind it and cover it with the cover strips. Due to the opal, milky-white plastic, which has a fairly good light transmission, the individual LEDs are no longer quite as visible and the light is diffused over the length.

As is usual for system profiles, our 20mm construction profiles have a through-hole that is centred in the profile cross-section and extends the entire length of the profile. This has a diameter of 5.1mm and is therefore ideally sized to allow a thread of size M6 to be cut with a simple tap if required. This way, M6 threaded screws can be screwed into the internal thread thus created to attach a table top or side panel. In addition, levelling feet with threaded rods or castors can be screwed into the thread. It is also possible to screw in short threaded rods to attach another profile to it in order to align the length of the construction with extreme precision.

TIP: For simple profile extensions, our groove 6 profile connectors are the better choice, because they create a better, more resilient connection.

Application and assembly of the 20mm system profiles with open grooves

Our construction profiles, which are 20mm wide, are available in a production length of 2005mm, in half-lengths of 1000mm or cut to size. Thanks to the high-quality aluminium alloy used to make them, the profiles can be easily sawn, drilled or tapped with little effort. With the countless system components that we supply to match the 6mm-wide grooves, a simple profile can be used to create an individually planned and modularly adaptable shelving system, a basic frame for 3D printers or a substructure for the interior finishing of service vehicles for tradespeople, with just two simple tools, namely an Allen key and a spanner.

A whole range of profile connectors and mounting brackets are available for extending profiles or connecting them at a specific angle. These are either inserted into the desired groove of the construction profile and firmly screwed to the profile with the grub screws supplied, or attached to the profile from the outside with 6mm nuts and countersunk screws. The main advantage here is the flexibility of the screw connections, because these can be easily loosened and moved within the groove as needed. This allows you to create constructions that can be expanded or adapted to changing needs as you wish. A wide range of solutions is also available for the 20x20 construction profile with a 6mm groove width for cladding constructions, for example as a cover for machines, or for fixed side elements, partition walls and doors. These include, among other things, hinges made of metal or robust plastic. TIP: Aluminium is a light metal that is very easy to drill or saw. A simple hacksaw with a fine blade is all you need. If you want to be on the safe side, use a mitre saw so that the cuts are always made at the perfect angle. It is even easier with our cutting service, because we can also cut the profiles directly to the desired length.

The profiles are made of corrosion-resistant aluminium and are also anodised to protect them from the weather. Perfect conditions for building a small shelter for the robotic lawnmower from the profile system. How about a dog kennel that can be adapted and expanded as you wish? The profiles are also an excellent choice for cat lovers, as they can be used to equip balconies with a modular cat net without having to screw brackets or hooks into the wall and ceiling.
