ASA/ABS sheets in black – The UV-resistant ones

Our ASA/ABS sheets in black with a thickness of 2mm or 4mm are manufactured in Germany. The plastic sheets made of particularly impact-resistant ABS plastic have a special ASA top layer on one side with a medium grain (see detailed view) to make the ABS sheets suitable for outdoor use. The material is completely dyed black. This means that a continuous black colour can also be seen on sawn and routed edges of the ASA/ABS sheets.

What is ASA/ABS?

ASA/ABS is a special plastic in which a weather- and UV-resistant ASA top layer is inseparably coextruded with the ABS substrate in an extrusion process.

Comparison of ASA/ABS and ABS

ASA/ABS sheets in black combine the outstanding impact resistance and high material hardness of conventional black ABS sheets with the excellent weather-resistant properties of the ASA top layer, making these special ABS sheets suitable for outdoor use even without appropriate processing. Direct exposure to UV radiation does not cause the material to become brittle and the deep black colouring does not fade.

You can choose between thicknesses of 2mm and 4mm for our black, one-sided UV-resistant ASA/ABS sheets. One of our qualified employees will cut your sheets exactly to your specifications on our modern CNC-controlled panel saws with a sawing tolerance of +/-1mm.

Processing of our black ASA/ABS sheets

ASA/ABS sheets are very easy and versatile to work with. The 2mm or 4mm thick plastic sheets with continuous colouring in deep black can be sawn or milled. Grinding or drilling black ASA/ABS is also easily possible and does not require any special tools. CO2 lasering, provided the appropriate equipment is available, is possible without any problems with ASA/ABS.

ASA/ABS sheets in black are excellent for thermoforming and thermoforming, in which the material is heated and drawn into a specific shape by means of a vacuum.

Bonding, laminating and printing on ASA/ABS sheets is theoretically possible in relation to the material properties. However, it should be noted that permanent film lamination (depending on the film thickness) on the ASA top layer is only possible to a limited extent due to the medium-size grain.

NOTE: Due to the grained surface structure of the ASA top layer, our black ASA/ABS sheets are not provided with a protective film.
