Our balcony screws in light grey (RAL 7035) with metric thread are made of high-quality A2 stainless steel, which is characterised by outstanding corrosion resistance. The screws have a round, lenticular head with ISR20 (Torx 20) drive. The head diameter of our balcony screws is 16mm and thus offers a sufficient bearing surface which also ensures that the drill hole is always completely covered even with panel drill holes of 10mm. To enable balcony cladding on all metal substructures as well as with different panel thicknesses, we offer the screws in different lengths with correspondingly different clamping ranges. The screw head with a special, scratch-resistant head lacquer, which has been exactly matched to our light grey HPL panels, is UV-resistant. This means that the screws can be used outdoors without hesitation, which is an essential requirement, especially for balcony cladding.

The quantity of balcony screws required is never the same for any building project. For this reason, we deliberately do not use fixed packaging units. Properties of our balcony screws in light grey

With our balcony screws, we focus on the best possible quality for maximum durability. For this reason, all individual components, such as the screw, the cap nut, the spring washer or the washer are made of a rustproof A2 stainless steel alloy. Only the self-adhesive poly washer, which is glued to the panel surface between the panel and the substructure, is made of a weatherproof plastic. In contrast to screws made of less high-quality alloys, it is ensured that the fasteners do not lose their appearance and durability even after years and therefore do not have to be replaced after just a few years. To ensure that the screw connection does not loosen by itself after tightening the cap nut, the thread of the nut is coated with a special 2-component varnish that serves as a reliable screw lock.

As with all screws intended for the installation of our HPL panels, the colour and gloss level of the head coating of the light grey balcony screws is exactly matched to our HPL panels in light grey. This makes it possible to mount the decorative panels on the balcony as inconspicuously as possible, without the screws becoming a nuisance. The scratch-resistant lacquering is absolutely UV-resistant. This is an important feature for balcony cladding, as these are usually located outdoors and are exposed to all weather conditions as well as UV radiation from sunlight. Fading or yellowing of the screws is therefore not to be feared.

The specified screw length always refers to the thread length, which provides information about the clamping range for balcony screws with cap nuts. The necessary clamping range is calculated from the panel thickness and the thickness of the substructure of the balcony railing to which the balcony cladding is to be fastened with the balcony screws.

Mounting HPL panels with our light grey balcony screws

The threaded screws with head lacquering and cap nut are ideal for fastening our HPL sheets in light grey to a substructure made of aluminium, steel or stainless steel as balcony edging. The lacquer finish has been precisely matched to our matching HPL sheets for this purpose in order to make the fastening points as inconspicuous as possible. If HPL panels are used for cladding, care must always be taken to ensure that the installation is free of constraints. One panel hole must be drilled as a fixed point in the diameter of the screw, and all others must be drilled with 8mm or 10mm. The easiest way to mount the hard panels is with a HPL drill made of solid carbide drill through. For the substructure, which must always be drilled in the diameter of the screw thread, i.e. in 5mm, a profile-ground HSS drill is the right choice. Before mounting, the self-adhesive poly washers must be glued onto the panel surface. Choose the side of the panel that faces the substructure. Then the screw can be passed through the panel, the poly washer and the substructure. Finally, the washer and spring washer are passed over the thread of the screw before the cap nut can be screwed on and tightened. For professional installation of HPL decorative panels, the tightening torque should be between 2 and 4 Nm.

In the case of balcony edging that has been planned and erected specifically for this purpose, the position and number of the fasteners are usually already specified so that they can simply be adopted. If this is not the case, the manufacturer's instructions for the respective panel material, as well as legal regulations, must be observed and complied with so that the proper fall protection for which a balcony surround is intended is guaranteed.

The balcony screws owe their name to their main purpose, because they are primarily intended for mounting HPL panels as balcony cladding. However, these screws are much more versatile and can also be used for screwing aluminium composite panels, polycarbonate or acrylic glass.
