The balcony screw set in anthracite grey with threaded sleeve consists of a head-lacquered balcony screw, a spacer washer made of LLD-PE and a threaded sleeve, which is available either with a scratch-resistant lacquer finish in anthracite or unlacquered. The screw head with modern Torx drive has a diameter of 12mm. The colour in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) is perfectly matched to our HPL panels. This also applies to the lacquered version of the threaded sleeve, whose head diameter is slightly larger at 14mm. The threaded sleeve is also equipped with a Torx drive in size TX20. Both the screw and the threaded sleeve are made of high-quality A2 stainless steel. This alloy is extremely corrosion-resistant and therefore ideally suited for mounting HPL panels on balcony and stair railings for fall protection.
NOTE: When selecting, please note that the size specification refers to the thread length of the screw, which we offer in the colour anthracite grey in the thread sizes M5x20mm, M5x25mm, M5x30mm and M5x35mm. However, the clamping range is larger due to the threaded sleeve and increases by 1 - 5mm depending on the screw-in depth in the sleeve.
Balcony screws with threaded sleeve are an excellent alternative to the screw with cap nut and have the advantage that the threaded sleeve, unlike the cap nut, lies flat on the substructure profile. Two screwdrivers with a Torx bit size TX20 are required for processing. Matching bits can be ordered at the same time if required.
Both the balcony screw and the threaded sleeve are made of a rustproof A2 stainless steel alloy. While the available combinations always include the screw in anthracite grey head lacquer, the threaded sleeve is optionally available in anthracite or unlacquered. This choice is available for every thread length of the painted balcony screws. If a threaded sleeve in another available colour from our standard delivery programme is desired instead, this is also possible via the purchase of the individual components. The thread of the set has a diameter of size M5. A special two-component adhesive is applied to the internal thread of the threaded sleeve for effective screw retention, the activator of which is contained in tiny glass beads. These break when the screw is screwed in, setting the chemical reaction of the hardening process in motion. Due to this curing thread adhesive, there is no longer any fear of the screw connection loosening due to shocks and vibrations.
The lacquering of the balcony screw, as well as the lacquered version of the threaded sleeve in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) consists of a scratch-resistant powder coating, which has very good UV and weather resistance. Fading of the dark grey tone due to UV radiation or weathering is therefore not to be feared. The colour and gloss level of the silk-glossy top coat is specially matched to our anthracite grey HPL panels in RAL7016 and allows the panels to be attached to the balcony railing as inconspicuously as possible.
The spacer washer made of grey polyethylene (LLD-PE) fulfils several purposes at once. On the one hand, this plastic has excellent sliding properties so that the plate can expand without any problems. In addition, the plastic insert serves as shock and vibration damping and also acts as a screw guide, which significantly simplifies the assembly of the usually heavy panels, especially in the case of square tubes with higher profile thicknesses.
NOTE: Stainless steel balcony screws or threaded sleeves are only conditionally suitable for substructures made of aluminium, because even if these are made of stainless steel, the contact of the two metals can cause so-called contact corrosion.
The anthracite grey balcony screws with threaded sleeve are ideal for the simple and inconspicuous installation of balcony cladding with HPL panels or aluminium composite panels in anthracite. The spacer washer is pressed into the hole of the square tube on the side where the cladding panel is to be fixed later. On the other side of the square profile, the threaded sleeve is inserted. The painted balcony screw is passed through the panel hole and the spacer washer and screwed into the thread of the threaded sleeve. Due to the threadlocking adhesive that is applied to the internal thread of the threaded sleeve, the screw can only be screwed in by fixing the sleeve with a second screwdriver. Otherwise, the sleeve rotates with it.
The balcony screw set with threaded sleeve requires a profile depth of at least 18mm so that the spacer washer and the threaded sleeve can be fully inserted into the profile without them butting against each other. If the spacer washer for pressing into the square tube is dispensed with and a conventional poly washer is used instead, the combination of balcony screw and threaded sleeve can also be used with square profiles with a smaller profile depth. However, the hole on the side of the poly washer must then be drilled with 5.5mm instead of 8.5mm. The hole in which the threaded sleeve is inserted must still be drilled with an 8.5 mm drill bit.
For drilling into the square profile, an HSS drill with 8.5 mm diameter is a very good choice. This can be used both for the hole into which the spacer is pressed and for the hole into which the threaded sleeve must be inserted. For aluminium composite panels, the same drill is only suitable for the sliding point fixings. For the fixed point, use an HSS drill with 5.5mm. For HPL panels, an HSS drill is certainly possible, but it leads to chipping at the edges of the drill hole, so we advise against HSS drills here and recommend our solid carbide façade panel drills instead. For sliding points, an 8mm solid carbide drill is perfect. For the fixed point, on the other hand, a 6mm drill bit or a fixed point sleeve must be used, which reduces the drill hole diameter from 8mm to 6mm.
The threaded screw set with threaded sleeve is not only excellently suited for balcony surrounds and stair railings, but can also be used to connect barriers. The use of the poly washer can usually be dispensed with. Here, the two sides of the cabinets to be screwed together are drilled through. One side of the cabinet is drilled with a 5 or 6 mm drill bit, the other with an 8 mm drill bit, so that the threaded sleeve can be inserted recessed in the hole from this side. By choosing the head lacquer finish in anthracite grey on both sides, it is possible to screw anthracite grey furniture together in a visually extremely appealing and at the same time inconspicuous way in terms of colour.
