Our hammerhead bolts are an excellent fastening method and, along with T-slot nuts, are among the most important components for construction profiles. The hammerhead bolts made of carbon steel are available in different thread lengths with either M6 or M8 thread diameter. This makes it easy to attach objects, cladding panels, mounting brackets and much more to a construction profile with nuts, cap nuts or flange nuts, to be variably positioned within the groove and to be removed without a trace. Thanks to their nickel-plated surface, the screws are corrosion-resistant, so they can also be used for mounting profile constructions in outdoor areas.

The threaded screws with hammer head can also be used in existing constructions, regardless of the brand or manufacturer. Only the slot width of 8mm and the slot depth are important here. For our construction profiles, the 3030, 8mm groove profile is compatible with the hammer head screws with M6 thread, but due to the shallower groove depth and inner groove width, it is not suitable for the slightly larger version with M8 thread. These are, however, perfectly suited for the construction profiles in 40mm width with 8mm groove.

NOTE: The hammer head bolts with external thread are available in different thread diameters and lengths at affordable prices. Nuts in the appropriate thread size are required for mounting objects on construction profiles. Suitable flange nuts for secure fastening can be ordered at the same time in any quantity as needed.

Properties of our hammer head screws made of nickel-plated steel

A hammer screw, also called T-bolt, owes its name to its side view, which is very reminiscent of the appearance of a hammer. Here, the thread resembles the hammer handle and the head, which is adapted in shape and width to the grooves of the corresponding grooved profile, is very similar to the striking faces of an ordinary engineer's hammer. These are made of nickel-plated carbon steel, which not only allows for outdoor use. The nickel-plated surface not only improves resistance to rusting caused by weather conditions, but also significantly reduces the risk of contact corrosion, which can occur when aluminium comes into direct contact with steel in damp environments. Similar to T-slot nuts, the head shape, when viewed from above, is slightly rounded on one side and more rounded on the other. This ensures that the head jams at 90 degrees in the profile slot when screwed in, thus preventing it from turning when the nut is screwed on. The inside of the contact surface also has a slightly grooved structure. This prevents it from slipping along the profile rail after the nut has been tightened.

The design of the thread varies in diameter and length depending on the selection. The hammer head screws with M6 thread are matched to the groove width and depth of our 30x30mm construction profiles with an 8mm groove width. The screws, with an 8mm thread diameter, have a slightly more massive head to match the slightly deeper groove of our 40mm construction profiles. These, like the more solid hammer head screws, also have a higher load capacity. This is noticeable in the higher flexural rigidity. Thanks to the use of carbon steel, very high strengths are guaranteed. The metric thread in size M6 or M8 is compatible with all nuts, cap nuts or flange nuts, so that the mounting of angle brackets, panel materials or objects can be implemented in a variety of ways.

NOTE: Generally speaking, our hammer head screws can be used in almost any construction profile. The key factors to consider are the width and internal dimensions of the groove in relation to the groove width and depth, so that the screw can be inserted through the open groove into the profile and turned a full 90°.

Installation and use of hammerhead bolts on construction profiles

Installation with hammer head screws is very simple. These are inserted with the hammer head into the open groove of the construction profile and then turned 90 degrees clockwise. In this position, the head jams a little in the profile. However, this does not mean that it can no longer be moved or slip. Then the object to be mounted, for example a mounting bracket, is guided with the mounting hole over the thread of the hammer screw and screwed tightly onto the profile with a nut in the appropriate thread size. After that, the hammer screw can no longer be moved on the profile. If you wish to change its position, simply loosen the nut slightly so that the hammer head is no longer drawn firmly against the inside of the profile groove and can move freely within the groove.

Thanks to their special design, Hammer screw bolts offer maximum flexibility for extensions and adaptations of constructions, similar to T-nuts. Unlike internal profile connectors, Hammer screw bolts can be screwed into the open groove at any time and fastened with a nut. This creates a secure, flexible screw connection that can be easily adjusted. It is particularly suitable for machine covers that need to be removed for maintenance work on the system, without affecting the statics of the machine construction. Vertical shading on terraces and balconies can be made similarly flexible using Hammer screw bolts, so that the shading panels can be moved up or down as desired. It is sufficient to loosen the nuts slightly and slide the panels up or down, left or right within the grooves, and then tighten the nuts again.

WARNING: The hammerhead screws with an 8mm thread cannot be used in our construction profiles with a width of 30mm, as they cannot be turned completely through 90°. Instead, hammerhead bolts with a 6mm thread diameter should be used here. The smaller hammerhead bolts, on the other hand, are only partially suitable for the 40mm construction profile, as they do not tilt when turned 90° and could spin when tightened.

When constructing garden furniture or pergolas, hammer head screws can be used to connect the profiles in a weatherproof and stable manner and to attach seats, table tops or plastic panels as privacy screens to the profile. In industrial applications, hammer head screws are ideal for connecting profiles of machine frames and for attaching control units, covers or holders for measuring sensors or monitoring monitors to the construction profiles. This ensures a robust structure that can withstand the demands of a workshop or factory. Hammer screw bolts are equally perfect for storage shelves, vertical plant shelves for light-hungry house plants or open wardrobes, as they allow additional shelves to be retrofitted with mounting brackets at any time and their position to be flexibly changed as needed.
