Description

Hexagon socket bits for Allen key screws

Also individual bits ✓ Made of S2 steel ✓ ¼ inch drive✓

Our hexagon socket bits are available in the metric sizes of HEX1.5, HEX2, HEX2.5, HEX3, HEX4, HEX5, HEX6, HEX7, HEX8 and HEX10 and are made from high-quality S2 tool steel. As a standard bit with a length of 25mm and a standardised bit holder of ¼ inch (equivalent to 6.35mm), it fits into all standard bit holders. The typical hexagonal shape also allows the bit to be inserted directly into the chuck of a drill or cordless screwdriver if no bit holder is available.

The hexagon socket bits for Inbus® screws are equipped with a C-ring notch for optimum hold in the bit holder and are also magnetic thanks to their manufacture from high-quality S2 steel. This means that a screw can be attached to a magnetic bit holder and screwed in more easily without it falling off.

For occasional household use, a hexagon socket bit is unlikely to become unusable due to wear, so a minimum purchase of 10 bits or more makes little sense. For this reason, we also sell all our screwdriver bits individually. In the event that you need more, you can benefit from attractive graduated prices for orders of just 10 bits.

Scope of delivery:

  • 1 x hexagon socket bit in selected size

NOTE: If a screwdriver bit has reached its wear limit, which can be seen primarily from slightly rounded edges on a hexagon socket bit, it should be exchanged and replaced with a new bit. Otherwise, the drive of the screw head can be turned round.

Features of our bit inserts with hexagon drive

Inbus®-screws are preferably used where higher tightening torques are required and so the screwdriving tools must also be able to withstand high force. Our hexagon socket bits are made from high-quality S2 tool steel. This has a very high strength and is also highly resistant to wear. With an overall length of 25 mm and an ¼ inch drive, the small screw insert is suitable for all commercially available bit holders, cordless screwdrivers with drill chuck or universal screwdrivers with bit holder and can also be used for small torque spanners with corresponding socket spanner inserts when it is important to achieve a certain torque when tightening the screws.

A firm, secure fit in the bit holder is important for frustration-free and speedy work, because if a bit constantly gets stuck in the screw head drive, it is annoying and also costs time. To prevent this from happening, the hexagon socket bits for Allen-screws are equipped with a C-ring notch, which - provided a suitable bit holder is used - enables the bit to be locked in place. The bit is also magnetic, so that magnetic holders also hold the bit securely in place and also make it easier to position screws with a high iron content.

In contrast to our Phillips®-bits, which we offer in the 3 typical sizes, we offer the hexagonally shaped bit inserts in 10 different sizes from 1.5mm to 10mm. All bits correspond to the metric system, which is most suitable for the European market.

Equivalent bit size specifications for Inbus® screws:

  • Hexagon socket bit HEX1.5: corresponds to 1.5mm hexagon – width across flats SW1.5
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX2: corresponds to 2mm hexagon - width across flats SW2
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX2.5: corresponds to 2.5mm hexagon – width across flats SW2.5
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX3: corresponds to 3mm hexagon - width across flats SW3
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX4: corresponds to 4mm Hexagon - width across flats SW4
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX5: corresponds to 5mm Hexagon – width across flats SW5
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX6: corresponds to 6mm Hexagon – width across flats SW6
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX7: corresponds to 7mm Hexagon – width across flats SW7
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX8: corresponds to 8mm Hexagon – width across flats SW8
  • Hexagon socket bit HEX10: corresponds to 10mm Hexagon – width across flats SW10

Allen screws are very common and are used in all conceivable sizes and in a wide variety of areas. From small grub screws for spacers and cable tensioning systems for ceiling lighting, to cylinder head screws for system furniture from a well-known Swedish furniture store, or as screw connections for bicycle components, machine components and vehicle engines, hexagon socket screws are often used because, unlike slotted or cross-head screws, they allow a very high tightening torque without the need for high contact pressure on the screwdriver bit.

TIP: There are small, handy torque spanners that are suitable for tightening Allen screws on bicycles to the nearest newton metre. These usually have a hexagonal bit holder and are ideal for tightening 6-hole brake discs, brake callipers, thru axles or callipers.
