Professional Ø 68mm hole saw made from HSS bi-metal

Ideal for cavity wall boxes ✓ Replaceable drill bit ✓ Enormous service life ✓

Our bi-metal hole saw with a diameter of 68 mm and a cutting depth of 32 mm is a universal tool for creating precise cut-outs in a wide range of materials. The hole saw is made of HSS steel and cobalt-alloyed M42 steel and impresses with its high sharpness and precise cutting performance with a very long service life. The holder with triangular shank is suitable for all cordless screwdrivers and drills with drill chucks and ensures a firm, secure fit when drilling. It has the widely used UNF 5/8 inch thread for screwing on the drill bit. The HSS steel centre drill has a diameter of 6 mm and can be easily replaced with another 6 mm drill bit if required. A removable, stable steel spring guarantees easy ejection of the drill core.

Hole saws from S-Polytec - Because good quality doesn't have to be expensive!

The progressive alternating teeth of the HSS bi-metal hole saw guarantee precise cuts in soft to medium-hard wood, aluminium and other light metals. The hole saw is also ideal for use in insulation boards, drywall panels or plastic panels. With a cutting depth of up to 32 mm, it is a versatile tool for numerous interior design and furniture construction projects and an indispensable tool for electricians and plumbers in particular.

Features of the 68 mm bi-metal hole saw

Our 68mm hole saw with a cutting depth of up to 32mm is made from durable bi-metal, which is known for its outstanding durability and resistance. The combination of HSS steel (High-Speed Steel) and Cobalt alloyed M42 steel ensures exceptional cutting performance and tremendous longevity, even in demanding applications. Thanks to the progressive alternating toothing, fast drilling progress is guaranteed in all suitable materials. The generously dimensioned slotted holes in the crown wall ensure reliable removal of the drilling dust and also make it easier to remove the drill core.

Our hole saw is easy to use, even for beginners. The robust 9 mm triangular shank fits into all standard drills and cordless screwdrivers with drill chucks and guarantees secure and stable fastening during operation. This is in stark contrast to a round shank, which can jam and spin in the drill chuck, especially with harder materials or deep cut-outs. This has a UNF thread (unified national finethread) size 5/8" x 18 for screwing on the drill bit. This thread size is widely used for hole saws, meaning that the adapter with centre drill can also be used for many other hole saws. The centring drill bit made of ground HSS steel with a diameter of 6 mm can be replaced as required using a small grub screw. This means that a wood drill bit or a special HK plastic drill bit with a 6 mm shank diameter can also be used without any problems. You can also find suitable drill bits for replacement at very favourable prices in our online shop.

Application and handling of the 68 mm hole saw

The S-Polytec hole saw with a diameter of 68 mm and a cutting depth of 32 mm is one of the most versatile hole saws used in countless trades, as this diameter not only corresponds exactly to the dimensions for the installation of cavity wall sockets, which are used to install light switches, sockets and roller shutter controls in drywalls and wall panelling, but is also suitable for most common recessed spotlights in walls and ceilings. The hole saw is also ideal for cut-outs as cable ducts in kitchen cabinets and back walls, TV cabinets or sideboards and, thanks to the progressive alternating toothing, works effortlessly through countless materials such as plasterboard, wood, light metal, HPL or plastic. The 68 mm hole saw is even an indispensable tool in the sanitary sector, for example to ensure the drainage of washbasins and sinks in plasterboard walls in drywall construction.

Sharp drill bit for precision
The teeth of our hole saw are arranged alternately, so that a highly precise cut is guaranteed in all suitable materials. The tooth strip, whose individual teeth are arranged at a distance of approx. 7 mm, works effortlessly through plasterboard, wood, insulation boards, plastics, light metals, non-ferrous metals and stainless steel. The centring drill bit made of ground HSS steel with a point angle of 118° enables precise positioning of the hole saw without slipping but can easily be replaced with a special HPL drill bit made of solid carbide with a diameter of 6 mm for drilling HPL panels. This makes it very quick and easy to drill cut-outs for switch boxes for the installation of external sockets or recessed spotlights, even on exterior façade panels.

EXPERT TIP: For cavity wall sockets of multiple sockets, the distance of the holes from centre to centre is 71mm-72mm.

Goes through like butter
The holes arranged in the crown wall remove the drilling dust and chips quickly and efficiently. This protects the cordless screwdriver, as it has less play and you achieve fast drilling progress. The holes also have a cooling effect and prevent air from building up in the drill bit. Both have the advantage, especially at higher speeds and high cutting depths, that work can progress with less effort and the very long service life of the drill bit is not impaired by excessive heat build-up.

Ejecting a cut-out made easy
Our hole saw has a steel spring that pushes the cut-out forwards. When drilling deeper holes, for example in double-walled plasterboard or inside a kitchen worktop, the cut-out can still get stuck in the drill bit. It makes sense to pull out the spring beforehand, especially when drilling holes that are close to the maximum cutting depth of the hole saw. To remove the cut-out from the crown, the crown is provided with elongated holes at several points on the side and holes on the back, which can be used as a lever tool to move the cut-out forwards using a screwdriver.
