Mini recessed LED spotlight 12V, 3W (3000K, warm white)

Aluminium housing ✓ Compact installation dimensions ✓ For indoor and outdoor use ✓

Our S-Polylight recessed LED spotlights with 3W output are suitable for extending our complete sets to connect up to 12 recessed spotlights to one LED power controller. The 5 metre long connection cable is pre-assembled and is connected to the HUB of the controller via a simple plug connection. The brightness of a single spotlight is 190 lumens and can be reduced by dimming if required. With a colour temperature of 3000 Kelvin, the compact LED lights shine in a pleasant warm white, contributing to cosy lighting both indoors and outdoors. The high-quality housing is made of painted aluminium and is available in a choice of anthracite (RAL 7016), silver or white. At 36mm, the outer diameter of the mini recessed spotlight is around half that of conventional recessed spotlights. The hole diameter required for installation is just 28mm and with a shallow installation depth of 29mm, the small LED spotlight can also be easily installed in suspended ceilings with a shallow depth.

Thanks to their very compact dimensions, the high-quality recessed spotlights are perfect for integrating into the roof struts of our patio roofs to illuminate them with pleasant, warm white light at dusk. As a dust and splash-proof recessed spotlight with IP65 protection, there are virtually no limits to its use in protected outdoor areas. The cabling can be completely concealed within the struts. Even the optionally available LED power controller, to which the spotlights are connected, is very easily concealed behind the wall-side cover panels due to its small dimensions.

Features of the lacquered Ø 36mm recessed spotlights

The S-Polylight DR-SP3W recessed LED spotlights are dimmable LED spotlights with an output of 3 watts. The supply voltage of 12 volts DC is provided by the LED power controller, which can be used to control up to 12 lights simultaneously. This also has a radio receiver and a radio remote control for convenient switching and dimming of the lights. Neither of these is included with the individual spotlights, so they are primarily intended as an addition to our complete sets or for putting together your own set. The permanently installed LEDs with a beam angle of 45 degrees illuminate with a maximum brightness of 190 lumens, which corresponds to 63 lumens per watt. However, the brightness can be dimmed if required. This is made possible by the use of particularly high-quality 5050 SMD LEDs. They are characterised by very good colour rendering with a CRI of > 80 Ra and flicker-free illumination.

Our mini recessed spotlights live up to their name. They have very compact dimensions with an installation diameter of 28mm and an installation depth of 29mm. The outer diameter of 36mm is also very discreet. The housing is made of a high-quality aluminium alloy, which is then finished with a scratch-resistant paint. The colours available are anthracite grey (RAL 7016), silver and white. This means that the small recessed spotlights are also perfectly colour-coordinated with our anthracite grey or white patio roofs.

Connecting the recessed spotlights is very simple. Thanks to pre-assembled cables with different plugs, incorrect connection is impossible. Neither a screwdriver nor a soldering iron is required for connection. The short connection cable on the LED spot is soldered and additionally secured and sealed with a special resin. This prevents the solder contact from tearing due to tensile stress and offers a high level of protection against dust and splash water. With that, the luminaires achieve protection class IP65. To connect the recessed spotlight to the HUB of the LED power controller, a connection cable with a length of 5 metres is included in the scope of delivery and is therefore more than sufficient for most areas of application.

Accessories for the mini recessed spotlight from S-Polylight

  • Ø 28mm bi-metal hole saw for drilling holes in aluminium, wood and plasterboard
  • Connection extension in 5m length with sealed screw plug connection
  • 12V LED power controller for connecting up to 12 recessed spotlights
  • Wireless remote control for simple, convenient brightness control

Installation and connection of the compact recessed spotlights

Our S-Polylight LED spotlights are recessed spotlights with clamping brackets that are perfect for installation in the rafters of patio roofs due to their very small installation dimensions. The visually appealing light sources can also be used very well in drywall construction, for example as ceiling or staircase lighting. Holes with a diameter of 28mm are required for installation. For this, we recommend our 28mm hole saw made of high-quality bi-metal. It is equally suitable for drywall materials and light metals such as aluminium.

NOTE: The two clamping brackets have a high clamping force, so care should be taken not to pinch your fingers when opening the brackets.

Each recessed spotlight is supplied with a 5 metre connection cable, which has a small white plug on one end for connection to the HUB of the LED power controller for the power supply. On the other side is a round, black plug contact with an external thread. That is used for the plug-in screw connection with the LED spotlight. This should be taken into account in advance when laying the cables. The strong outer insulation protects the two conductors from damage, but care should be taken when laying the cable to ensure that it is not pulled over sharp edges, for example the usually sharp-edged holes in the aluminium of patio roofs. Stud frame profiles in drywall construction and pointed drywall screws can also damage the insulation and impair the function of the LED light. Special care should therefore be taken here.

NOTE: The plug-in screw connection, between the short connection cable of the recessed spotlight and the connection cable supplied, has a notch on the bottom side of the plug to prevent the poles from being swapped. Only turn the plastic screw connection clockwise by hand to ensure a dust and splash-proof cable connection.

Once the LED spotlights have been connected to the connection cable and inserted into the hole provided, the small two-pole plugs can be plugged into the HUB of the LED power controller. This allows up to 6 LED spots to be connected on both sides, so that a maximum of 12 spots can be connected and controlled with one controller. A small pin on the underside of the plug ensures that it cannot be connected incorrectly. Finally, the mains plug can be plugged into the socket provided. Especially with very large patio covers with a width of 10 metres or more, the 5 metre connection cable supplied may be too short, meaning that not all spots can be connected to the LED power controller. In this case, optional 5 metre extension cables are available, which increase the total length of the connection cable to 10 metres. These are simply inserted through the plug-in screw connection on both sides between the LED spot and the original connection cable.

Application examples for the compact recessed LED spotlights

  • The white recessed spotlights are ideal for our white patio roofs
  • The LED spotlights in RAL 7016 are a perfect visual match for canopies in anthracite grey
  • The Stahlers are protected against dust and splash water and can therefore be used outdoors
  • The small spotlights are ideal for decentralised illumination of steps
  • The recessed spotlights are ideal for illuminating roof overhangs or garden sheds
  • Integrated into the drywall ceiling, the small spotlights are a great visual eye-catcher

WARNING: The recessed LED spotlights may only be connected to an S-Polylight LED power controller with 12V output voltage using the connection cables supplied. It is not recommended to use a different 12 V power supply unit for the power supply. Never connect the spotlights directly to a 230V line. There is a danger to life. Electrical connections should only be made by qualified personnel.
