Plastic black lever handle in different sizes

Incl. slot nuts ✓ incl. cylinder screws ✓ for indoor use ✓

The plastic handle made of black polyamide is available in two different sizes with a total length of 105mm or 140mm at affordable set prices. Each of these handles is available in two versions with mounting material consisting of cylinder screws and slot nuts for construction profiles with a slot width of 6mm or 8mm. The handles are characterised by their solid construction, made from impact-resistant plastic, which gives them excellent load-bearing properties without deforming or breaking. This makes the handles particularly suitable for technical applications. Especially when you consider that the construction profiles are also very often used in these areas to manufacture machines or constructions for conveyor technology that can be adapted to changing conditions at any time.

The bow-type handles are suitable for different profile designs depending on the size. Specifically, this means that the 140mm bow-type handle, due to its width of 25mm, can only be used for system profiles with a width of 30mm or more. To ensure compatibility with other systems, we still sell the wider handle with mounting material for 6mm and 8mm grooves. The smaller handle, which is 105mm long and 20mm wide, can also be combined with our 20x20mm construction profile with a 6mm groove. Therefore, we offer the small handle with mounting material for 6mm and 8mm groove widths with sliding nuts in the appropriate size. However, it is not necessary to use our own construction profiles. The handles, screws and sliding blocks are compatible with almost all system profiles. This applies equally to I-type profiles, such as the eponymous itemreg;- profile system, and Bosch®/Rexroth® B-type profiles. The only thing to watch out for is the slot width to ensure that the supplied sliding blocks can also be inserted into the profile and are not too large.

Scope of delivery:

  • 1 x polyamide handle (in selected size)
  • 2 x slot nut made of nickel-plated carbon steel (in selected size)
  • 2 x stainless steel cylinder screw (in selected size)

NOTE: The handles can be mounted in seconds with a simple tool. All that is needed is a hexagonal spanner to screw the cylinder screws into the T-slot nuts. However, if the handles are used for other purposes, such as being attached to drawers or doors as furniture handles, this no longer applies. Then, of course, the mounting material must also be adapted to the intended use.

Properties of the black plastic handle

The black bar handles are made of robust polyamide. This technical plastic is highly resistant to mechanical stresses such as tension, pressure and bending. These are all excellent properties for a bar handle, which, after all, is sometimes also used as a holding or carrying handle. This makes the handles durable and guarantees a firm hold. Polyamide, better known to most under the brand name Nylon®, is only partially suitable for outdoor use because it is relatively sensitive to UV radiation. For this reason, we do not recommend the permanent use of these handles in unprotected outdoor areas. On the other hand, the material is resistant to many chemicals such as oils, greases, fuels and solvents, which makes it ideal for use in the automotive industry, in workshops and other technical applications, for which the aluminium construction profiles are also extremely well suited, for example, for manufacturing modular and adaptable storage systems or machine constructions.

The different sizes also logically result in different dimensions for the inner handle area and the mounting holes. Whereas the small handle with external dimensions of 105mmx20mmx37mm has internal dimensions of 70mmx31mm, we measured a width of 25mm and a height of 40mm for the 140mm handle. The inner length of this bow handle is 100mm and the handle depth is 34mm. The distance between the mounting holes is measured from centre to centre. Last but not least, the hole diameter should be mentioned, because here too there are differences. At 105mm, the diameter of the handle is 6mm, which is ideal for a screw in size M6. With 8mm, the larger handle can also be mounted with 6mm diameter threaded screws, but small washers are also included. To optimally distribute the load of the smaller screw head over the intended contact surface of the plastic handle, washers are also supplied with this special combination. These are not necessary for any of the other combinations.

Every handle is supplied with mounting material so that it can be installed on construction profiles immediately. These are stainless steel socket cap screws. The thread diameter and length of the screws vary depending on whether they are ordered for 6 or 8mm strut profiles. The matching sliding blocks in 6mm or 8mm width and internal thread in 6mm are of course also included. These are made of carbon steel with a fire nickel plating. We deliberately avoided using a stainless steel alloy here, because, in contrast to the screws, the T-slot nuts are in direct contact with the aluminium profiles, and stainless steel does not go well with aluminium, which can result in contact corrosion. With nickel-plated steel, however, the risk is significantly lower.

Installation and assembly of the black plastic lever handle

The mounting of the bow-type handle is possible at any time with the supplied mounting material. Even if the profile ends are no longer accessible because they are covered by other profiles, corner connectors or cover caps due to the design, because the slot nuts can be inserted into the open profile rail at any time.

No special tool is required to attach the plastic handle to a construction profile.. The slot nut is simply inserted into the slot of the profile rail and then turned clockwise by 90 degrees so that the grooved surfaces make contact with the inside of the profile when the screw is turned in, thus ensuring a firm clamping connection. To loosen and remove the T-Slot Nut, the screw is turned anticlockwise. As soon as the connection is sufficiently loosened, the T-Slot Nut usually turns with it all by itself and can then be easily pulled out of the groove.

TIP: The easiest way to insert the slot nuts into the groove of the construction profile is to use the corresponding cylinder screw. To ensure that they slide down during upright assembly, pre-assembly on the handle can simplify the process. Another solution would be to provisionally insert an additional slot nut into the profile to hold the U-handle in the desired position until assembly has taken place.

The plastic handles are more than sufficient in terms of load capacity for most applications. In most cases, these are used as door handles or handles for panels and device covers. Thanks to the fact that they are made of polyamide, these are an excellent choice even for electrical devices and systems, because polyamide is non-conductive and the risk of electric shock in the event of a short circuit is significantly reduced. The handles can also be used for countless DIY projects. These include custom-made furniture, rolling cabinets or shelving systems in the garage or for vertical gardens in front of the living room window facing south, sliding panels or as a carrying handle for trays. It doesn't always have to be combined with an aluminium profile.

Thanks to their very low weight, the bow-type handles are very popular for lightweight constructions, such as for drones. Weight is also an important factor in the fitting out of motorhomes and caravans. Here, the profiles are used, among other things, as furniture handles for storage boxes, drawers and cabinet fronts. In trade, a shelf construction in the transporter contributes to the tidy and safe storage of tools, machines and consumables. This means that shelves, storage compartments for toolboxes and drawers for small items are quickly accessed and the small plastic handles make the drawers and compartments very easy to open.
