High-quality black ABS panels made of regenerated material

Our black ABS sheets made of reclaimed material (recyclate) are available in a thickness of 8mm. The black sheets made of recycled material are absolutely opaque and completely black, so that a continuous deep black colouring is visible even on sawn and cut edges. The smooth surface of the impact-resistant material is protected against scratches on one side by a protective film.

What is ABS made from regenerated material?

ABS Regenerate is the term used for ABS plastics made from recycled material (so-called recyclate). The offcuts from our ABS sheets (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) that are produced during sawing are collected by us and sorted by type. The recycled material is then ground and re-extruded into ABS plastic sheet. Like our ABS sheets made from virgin material, the recycled sheets are manufactured in Germany and have the high impact strength typical of ABS. Also in terms of material hardness and good chemical resistance, the sheets made from ABS reclaimed material are in no way inferior to the sheets extruded from virgin material.

Comparison of ABS regrind to ABS sheet from virgin material

The only difference worth mentioning, apart from the favourable price compared to ABS sheets made from virgin material, is that ABS sheets made from reclaimed material may contain small impurities or foreign substances. This is not necessarily the case, but it cannot be 100% ruled out. These impurities, if present at all, can become visible on the surface.

Processing

Like our ABS sheets made from virgin material, the ABS sheets made from reclaimed material in black can be easily processed by all common cutting methods such as sawing, milling, drilling or grinding. ABS made from recycled material can also be thermoformed and has excellent thermoforming properties that allow this material to be shaped into almost any form.

The recycled ABS reclaimed panels are not UV-resistant, so we recommend that you do not use these panels for outdoor use, or protect them accordingly from direct exposure to UV radiation by film lamination or painting. If you need weatherproof sheets made of impact-resistant ABS, we recommend our ASA/ABS sheets in black made of UV- and weather-resistant plastic. However, these special UV-resistant ABS sheets are not made of reclaimed material but 100% virgin material.

NOTE: We recommend that the protective film on one side is only removed after finishing and processing, in order to avoid unwanted scratches on the smooth surface.
