Processing of welding rod for polypropylene in grey

Before welding, the PP sheets to be joined should be stripped with a puller or a cutter knife to remove the oxide layer, which can affect the quality of the weld. When welding plastic, pay urgent attention to the correct welding temperature, which when welding polypropylene should be between +230°C and a maximum of +280°C to obtain a perfect weld. Temperatures below +230°C can result in a weld not being made because the plastic is not sufficiently fused. Temperatures that are too high burn the plastic, which also has a strong effect on the quality and durability of the weld. Heating our PP welding rod for too long can also result in surface burns.

If welding your polypropylene sheets is too time-consuming for you, we offer an alternative joining option with our 2-component adhesive S-Polybond PPprofi. Unlike most other adhesives, our own brand is able to bond polypropylene permanently and securely. It should be noted, however, that this adhesive is not suitable for the use of polypropylene in the food sector.
