The white Aqua-Plus PP-R couplings with internal thread on one side are available in different versions. Both the sizes of the welding sockets for accommodating a PP-R pipe vary from DN20 - DN40, as do the thread sizes. The internal brass thread ranges from 1/2" to 1 1/4", depending on the selected version. Due to the fixed welded connection on one side and the screw connection on the other side of the pipe coupling, connections from PP-R pipe systems to other pipe systems as well as between two pipe systems made of PP-R can be created without great effort.

As a through connector, the pipe coupling offers countless application possibilities. These range from screwable sealing plugs for later expansion of the pipe system, to the connection of end users such as outlet valves, heaters or air conditioners, to the connection of copper, aluminium or steel pipes with PP-R pipes.

Properties of the PP-R coupling with female thread

Our PP-R pipe couplings are made of high-quality polypropylene random copolymer in which the internal thread is made of brass. PP-R is a food-safe plastic that is characterised by very good impact strength and chemical resistance. The temperature resistance from -10°C to +95°C is also a noteworthy aspect, as this makes the female pipe coupling perfectly suitable for connecting hot water pipes for heating systems or for geothermal energy. Thanks to the drinking water approval, which is proven by DVGW and SKZ certifications, the pipe coupling can also be used without hesitation for pipes carrying drinking water. Depending on the continuous operating temperature, pressures of up to 26 bar are permissible.

In contrast to our multi-part screw couplings, the pipe-tube coupling has a permanently integrated brass thread. In the version with internal thread, the brass insert is almost completely integrated into the plastic on the inside up to the beginning of the thread, as well as on the outside. This not only achieves a permanent, firm connection between the two materials, but also ensures that the thread does not come loose from the plastic and rotate along with it, even with high tightening torques. If a PP-R pipe coupling with external thread is screwed in, a continuous connection is created which is completely covered by the plastic from one pipe to the other without transport fluids coming into contact with the screw connection made of brass.

A special feature of the fittings of the white AquaPlus PP-R pipe system is that they have a flow-optimised design. The pipe couplings with a pipe socket on one side are designed in such a way that the pipe can be pushed in after softening to the required insertion depth and is limited in depth by an inner area. This is also exactly matched to the pipe in diameter and extends to the beginning of the internal thread.

Processing of pipe couplings with internal thread for PP-R pipes

The PP-R coupling is used for the screw connection of a PP-R pipe with another pipe. The PP-R pipe is welded to the coupling. To do this, you need a socket welder with a heating socket of the appropriate size, where on the one hand the pipe is inserted and at the same time the socket of the coupling is put on to soften it by heating. Then the pipe can be inserted into the sleeve. This must be done without long waiting times, straight and without twisting, if the welded joint is to be watertight and pressure-tight. An axial deviation of up to 3° is within the tolerance range. Trying to insert the pipe without softening will not be successful. The inner diameter of the pipe socket on one side of the coupling is deliberately a little smaller and ensures the high pressure resistance of the welded joint.

Different pipe diameters also result in different heating times, cooling times and insertion depths. On the opposite side of the welded connection is the screw coupling with internal thread made of brass, which, by simply screwing in the counterpart with external thread of the same diameter, creates a quick connection of the PP-R pipe with a pipe made of copper, steel or similar. However, it is not absolutely necessary to create a connection to another pipe system here; it is also possible to combine another PP-R pipe with a pipe coupling and external thread without hesitation.
