The white Aqua-Plus 90° PP-R elbow couplings with female thread made of brass are available in different versions. Both the compatible diameters of the PP-R pipes and the thread diameters vary. The elbow coupling is a simple method of making a direct connection between a PP-R pipe and a conventional metal pipe with a screw coupling. At the same time, the 90° angle causes a change of direction at right angles.
In addition to connecting different pipe systems, the PP-R elbow coupling is also well suited for connecting individual sections within the PP-R pipe system by means of a screw connection. In addition, the coupling can also be used as a wall connection bracket for a water connection, although this lacks the option of fixing it directly to the wall, so it should be fitted to the PP-R pipe using pipe clips.
Our PP-R elbow couplings are made of high-quality polypropylene random copolymer with a brass internal thread. The PP-R is an impact-resistant, chemically resistant plastic that can be used without hesitation for hot and cold water supply, as well as for drinking water supply. With a temperature resistance of -10°C to +95°C, even the use of hot water pipes for radiators, heat pump systems or solar thermal systems is possible without restrictions. The brass thread offers a convenient way to connect the different systems quickly and easily with each other using screw connections.
The internal brass thread is not only completely enclosed by the plastic on the outside. The brass insert extends deep into the elbow coupling. A special manufacturing process ensures that the polypropylene also encloses the brass on the inside. This has two major advantages. On the one hand, an absolutely firm hold of the brass thread is achieved, even if the screw connection requires a very high tightening torque. Furthermore, the inner diameter of the coupling is perfectly matched to the corresponding PP-R pipe until the thread is reached.
All fittings of the Aqua-Plus system, which are used for the welded connection of PP-R pipes, are limited in depth to the necessary insertion depth when taking up the pipe. This is followed by an inner sector whose diameter is exactly matched to the inner pipe diameter. This creates an almost seamless transition from the pipe to the coupling, so that fluids can flow unhindered without significant frictional losses.
The elbow coupling has an internal brass thread and a pipe socket arranged at right angles to it, which is used to accommodate a PP-R pipe. The pipe is permanently connected to the elbow coupling by welding with a pipe welder. To achieve this, both the pipe and the pipe socket must be placed on or in the heating socket and heated for a certain time. This softens the surfaces, making it possible to insert the pipe into the pipe socket. This should also be done immediately after heating. Without heating, however, the pipe cannot be inserted, because the inner diameter of the PP-R elbow is approx. half a millimetre smaller to ensure an absolutely tight welded joint. When inserting the PP-R pipe, make sure that this is done without turning and with a maximum axial deviation of 3°. The depth to which the pipe must be pushed into the pipe holder depends on the outer pipe diameter.
The PP-R angle couplings have different diameters for the PP-R pipes, depending on the design. These, on the other hand, require different times for heating and cooling. The insertion depth also increases with increasing outer pipe diameter, so we have created a data sheet with these important specifications for each pipe size. On the product page of the PP-R pipes in white these data sheets can be downloaded. These also contain valuable information on assembly and linear linear expansion.
The high-quality brass thread varies in size depending on the design and ranges from half an inch to one inch for the available angle couplings. This is an internal thread that is used to make screwable pipe connections that have an external thread of the corresponding size. This can be a screw coupling to pipes made of copper, aluminium or steel, as well as to another section within a PP-R pipe system. Furthermore, depending on the size, the internal thread is also suitable for connecting an outlet tap, a stop valve or a flexible pipe connection.
NOTE: For threaded connections, always use thread sealing tape, Teflon tape or hemp for tightness.
