The white Aqua-Plus PP-R couplings with screw-on male thread and sealing ring are available for any of our PP-R pipes from 20mm to 40mm diameter. The brass thread of the coupling varies from 1/2" to 1 1/4" depending on the pipe diameter. The receptacle for the PP-R pipe on the opposite side is available in sizes from DN20 to DN40. This allows a welded connection from the PP-R pipe system to other pipe systems with a screw connection. The screwable coupling offers maximum flexibility for connecting PP-R pipes to each other, or for connecting consumers (for example solar thermal panels, radiators, pressure boilers, etc.) as well as for flexible connection of PP-R pipes to metal pipes.
In contrast to our PP-R pipe couplings with fixed integrated thread, the screw coupling consists of four individual parts. The socket for welding to the PP-R pipe, the threaded connection made of brass with external thread, a coupling screw connection and a sealing ring which ensures a water- and air-tight seal between the threaded element and the PP-R welding socket.
Our PP-R coupling with screwable male thread is made of solid brass and polypropylene random copolymer. The threaded insert, which is matched in diameter to the largest possible flow of the PP-R pipe, is screwed tightly to the plastic pipe receptacle by means of a coupling fitting. The impact-resistant PP-R, impresses with its very good temperature resistance from -10°C to +95°C continuous service temperature. The fitting, which is approved for drinking water, can therefore be used for cold water pipes as well as for pipes carrying hot water. In addition, the plastic has very good chemical resistance. The Aqua-Plus pipe system is therefore ideal for chemical or food processing production plants.
The very good processing quality of the individual components, as well as the easy handling when welding fittings and pipes made of PP-R, represent an inexpensive and efficient alternative to conventional pipe systems made of copper, aluminium or steel. Due to the low friction value and the very low surface adhesion of polypropylene, low-maintenance pipe systems can be installed that have an enormous service life of more than 50 years.
For optimum tightness between the brass components and the polypropylene welding socket, a sealing ring is inserted into the threaded insert. This ensures a pressure resistance of the fitting of up to 26 bar, depending on the permanent water temperature.
The screwable PP-R coupling is permanently connected on one side to a PP-R pipe of the corresponding diameter by means of the welding process. For this purpose, the pipe and the fitting must be heated simultaneously by a socket welder for a certain time and then inserted into each other. This should be done immediately after heating. The pipe should be inserted straight into the heated pipe socket of the coupling without twisting it until the required insertion depth is reached. An axial deviation of no more than 3 degrees ensures that the welded joint is watertight and pressure-resistant.
WARNING: Push the threaded coupling onto the PP-R pipe receptacle and the pipe before heating. Once the pipe has been pushed on and welded accordingly, it may no longer be possible to push the threaded fitting on, so that the male threaded coupling can no longer be screwed on.
We offer the screwable PP-R couplings with external thread in four different sizes, suitable for every pipe diameter, which are available in our shop. As different pipe diameters require different times for heating and welding, we have created a separate assembly data sheet for each pipe size, which contains this data, as well as information on insertion depth, assembly or pressure resistance. These data sheets can be viewed and downloaded in the tab of the same name.
The screwed connection opposite the welded connection can be screwed after the welding process by screwing the external thread with the internal thread corresponding to the size and loosened as desired. This allows flexible connections for water supply, regardless of whether they are drinking water pipes made of PP-R, copper or steel. The screwable pp-R coupling is also a simple and quick connection between two systems for pipelines in pool construction or as a pressure line in industrial plants.
NOTE: For screwed connections of pipes with brass threads, a little hemp or Teflon tape helps to improve the sealing of the screw connection.
