The Aqua-Plus PP-R tees are available in sizes from DN20 to DN40 at favourable prices. The T-pieces, made of high-quality polypropylene random copolymer, are used to make simple branches in pipe systems. To prevent the pipes from being inserted too deeply, the diameter inside the T-piece is reduced to the inner diameter of the pipe. This creates an almost seamless transition from the pipe ends to the T-piece after welding, which does not increase the very low flow resistance. In addition, the noise development is prevented from increasing when liquids flow through.
In the case of the simple T-pieces, all receptacles have the same diameter, so that only pipes that correspond to this diameter can be used here. In the case of the PP-R T-branch piece in size DN20, this means that all three pipes must have an outer diameter of 20mm. The size designation 20/20/20 is also very widespread, although the separation mark varies depending on the dealer. Nevertheless, it is obvious at first glance which diameters must be used. With T-pieces, all diameters are the same, which is why the detailed notation is rather rare and makes much more sense with T-reducers.
In pipe systems for drinking water supply, as well as in the installation of heating systems, branches with T-pieces are used to set up a supply line for different sections, for example to each room or floor. With the PP-R T-pieces in white, such branches are completed in no time at all and represent an extremely durable and resistant connection of three sections with PP-R pipes of the same diameter.
In addition to the certifications for drinking water supply, which comply with the DVGW and SKZ, as well as all required DIN and EN standards, the heat-resistant PP-R pipe system from Aqua-Plus is suitable for permanent operating temperatures of up to +95°C. Due to the very low heat loss, the system made of polypropylene random copolymer is an ideal, energy-efficient alternative to metal pipes made of copper, aluminium or steel and can be used excellently for hot and cold water supply, as well as for heating pipes, transport pipes in air-conditioning technology or for heat pump systems.
A T-piece acts as a pipe connector with another connection for a third pipe that branches off at right angles from the main pipe. In the case of the simple T-pieces, the three pipe sockets are all identical in size, so that the branching takes place in the same pipe diameter as the continuous pipe connection itself.
Welding T-pieces with a socket welder is still very simple for the first pipe. For this, the T-piece is placed on the heating mandrel of the heater and at the same time the pipe is inserted into the heating socket on the other side of the welder. After sufficient softening, which is achieved after a certain heating time, the pipe and T-piece should be joined until the insertion depth is reached. When joining the system components, care must be taken that this is done straight and without turning. Afterwards, the welded joint must cool down sufficiently before the second and third welded joints can be made, which must be carried out according to the same principle. The axial deviation of the pipe must not exceed 3%, otherwise a permanent seal cannot be guaranteed. We recommend first inserting the two opposite pipes into the T-piece according to the described procedure and only welding the branch last, so that the connected pipe does not interfere with the heating of the T-piece of the following welds and obstruct the work.
On the product page for our white Aqua-Plus PP-R pipes we have provided specific installation data sheets for each pipe diameter for downloading, which contain all the information for welding the PP-R pipes with the PP-R T-connectors. This includes the diameter-dependent times for heating and cooling, as well as the insertion depths of the pipe in the individual welded joints of the T-piece. In addition, the data sheets contain comprehensive information on assembly, as well as information on pressure resistance according to continuous service temperature.
WARNING: As with all fittings of the Aqua-Plus PP-R system, the pipes cannot be inserted into the T-piece if they have not been sufficiently softened in advance by the socket welder, because the diameter of the T-piece receptacle is about 0.5mm smaller than the outside diameter of the corresponding pipe.
NOTE: The PP-R T-pieces are suitable for branching pipe systems with a constant pipe diameter. If the branching is to be carried out with a reduced pipe diameter, we also offer the T-pieces as T-reducers in various designs.
