The Aqua-Plus PP-R fitting installation unit is the perfect solution for easy integration of surface-mounted fittings within a pipe system made of PP-R and is suitable for all common shower and bathroom fittings. The well thought-out system offers a wide range of connection options. In contrast to most mounting plates, the supply line can be connected from below as well as from the side. In addition, one outlet each for the hot and cold water pipes can be connected. If this is not required, the matching sealing plugs for sealing unused pipe sockets are included in the installation set.
The connections on the wall side for hot and cold water are provided with a 1/2" internal thread. This is a high-quality brass insert that is completely enclosed in plastic except for the thread due to a complex manufacturing process. The thread size corresponds to the standard for sanitary installations. The S-connections required for most fittings, which adapt the 1/2" internal thread to a 3/4" external thread, can therefore be screwed in without any problems.
The Aqua-Plus mounting unit for surface-mounted taps is suitable for all commercially available shower taps and bath taps with hot and cold water connections. The spacing of the mounting plate is 153mm. This means that the distance between the hot water connection and the cold water connection measured from the respective centre corresponds to 153mm. With the mounting unit, the water pipes can be fed in both from the side and from below. In addition, the wall bracket is designed to ensure maximum flexibility when setting up the water circuit. The mounting plate can be used in the flow within a water-bearing circuit, as well as an end tap in the pipe system. For easy identification of the inlet and outlet connections, as well as the hot and cold water connections, all connections are marked with directional arrows and the designations HOT (for hot water) and COLD (for cold water).
When installing shower and bathroom fittings, approval for pipe systems carrying drinking water is a mandatory requirement. For this purpose, the Aqua-Plus PP-R pipe system fulfils all the necessary DIN and EN standards at national and international level. The requirements applicable in Germany according to DVGW or SKZ certification are also met, so that the assembly unit for wall fittings can be used without hesitation for water supply in sanitary facilities. Water temperatures of up to 95°C are possible, even though such temperatures are probably never needed for showering or bathing.
The connections arranged at a 90° angle are provided with a female brass thread with a thread diameter of 1/2". This thread size is standard in the field of sanitary installations, so that, depending on the fitting, suitable S-connections from 1/2" to 3/4" can easily be screwed into the internal thread. The brass insert is completely surrounded by polypropylene on the outside. In addition, it is also surrounded by plastic on the inside up to the thread, which ensures a constant internal diameter for a trouble-free flow. Moreover, this complex integration of the two materials ensures that the brass thread has a permanent, firm hold in the plastic without the connection coming loose when the S-connections are screwed in.
The wall connection bracket can be used for surface-mounted, flush-mounted or drywall installations. For easy installation, the wall bracket is provided with pre-drilled mounting points that enable secure fastening by screwing to the substrate without the need for additional, special brackets.
The assembly unit can be integrated into the water circuit and connected in a variety of ways. A distinction must be made as to whether it is used in a continuous flow with supply and drainage, or whether only the supply lines for hot and cold water are to be used. In addition, it should be clear in advance whether the supply line is from below or from the side. The unused connection options of the wall bracket must be sealed by welding with the supplied sealing plugs before commissioning.
When welding the connections, we advise welding the plugs first and then the pipes. The other way round is also possible, but then it becomes a bit more complicated to handle - especially when heating up the remaining pipe sockets of the assembly unit. For both the PP-R pipes and the PP-R plugs, a pipe welder with a heating socket in size DN20 is required. For welding, the plug or the pipe and the corresponding pipe socket of the wall bracket must be heated simultaneously at a temperature of approx. 260°C for approx. 5 seconds and then inserted into each other without delay until the insertion depth of 14mm is reached. Make sure that this is done straight and without twisting. The maximum permissible axial deviation is 3° and must be observed for a watertight and pressure-resistant welded joint.
Welding the pipes and plugs to the assembly unit is much easier if this is done before mounting on the wall. The screw connection can then be carried out very easily with four screws. The distances of the fixings in the vertical as well as in the horizontal are 80mm. For mounting the surface-mounted fitting assembly unit, we recommend our fischer chipboard screws with countersunk head and partial thread in the size 4.5x 60mm or longer to ensure a secure hold.
WARNING: The PP-R pipes can only be inserted after the pipe and socket have softened, because the pipe diameter is about half a millimetre smaller than the outer diameter of the pipe.
