The profile connectors for extending construction profiles are available in different sizes to match our profile designs. Thanks to their compatibility with most common system profiles, the solid connecting pieces can also be used for construction profiles from other brands and manufacturers with the appropriate groove width and depth. They are mounted on the inside with four grub screws each, which are included in the appropriate quantity and screwed in with a simple Allen®-key.

Thanks to their solid steel construction, the profile connectors ensure a secure and resilient connection between two construction profiles. Galvanised carbon steel should not be considered inferior to stainless steel. On the contrary, contact between stainless steel and aluminium can promote contact corrosion when exposed.

NOTE: When using the profile connectors for construction profiles from other manufacturers, the depth and width of the groove must be taken into account to ensure that the connector can be inserted into the open groove.

Properties of the galvanised steel profile connectors

Our galvanised carbon steel profile connectors are available in three different sizes, to match the three different construction profiles that we offer in our online shop. They are perfectly matched to the profile grooves in terms of width and height. This ensures that the connectors fit perfectly into the grooved rail and that an optimal clamping force is achieved when tightening the screws, in order to ensure a load capacity that matches the profile.

The internal profile connectors are fastened with four grub screws, which are included in the scope of delivery. These are headless threaded screws with an internal hexagon drive. The special feature of this particular screw design is that it can be screwed completely into the thread of the profile connector. This has two advantages. Firstly, the surface of the profile is not disrupted by a screw head, which, among other things, means that the structure can be covered with a cladding that is not compromised by a protruding screw. Secondly, the profile connector can also be inserted and securely screwed into construction profiles with a slightly higher groove depth to achieve a load-bearing profile extension. The internal threads inside the connecting piece are arranged in such a way that the forces acting on the connection of the profiles are perfectly distributed. The thread size is also matched to the width of the profile connector to achieve the maximum possible strength of the construction. The diameter varies between Ø M5 for the groove 6 connecting piece and Ø M6 for the two versions for construction profiles with 8mm groove width.

Mounting of construction profiles with profile connectors

Profile connectors are used, as the name suggests, to connect construction profiles. With the solid connecting pieces, it is possible to extend our profiles, whereby the stability of the overall construction is guaranteed. To do this, the profile connectors are inserted halfway into the groove of the profile and fixed firmly in the profile groove with the grub screws provided. Another profile can then be pushed onto the protruding piece of the steel connector and also held firmly in position with the grub screws. An Allen key is all that is required to tighten the grub screw, with the size of the key depending on the size of the drive.

To ensure that the connection of the profiles also has a visually perfect transition, the blanks should be cut straight and at right angles. This is the only way to ensure that all four sides of the square profile are flush with each other. Additional smoothing of the saw edges can also be helpful if necessary. The best results are achieved with a cross-cut saw and a saw blade that is suitable for cutting light metals such as aluminium. Alternatively, the profiles can also be ordered from us directly in millimetre-precise cuts.

TIP: The profile connectors distribute high loads within the profile much better than T-slot grooves and can therefore be used for mounting heavier device components, lamps or other attachments

Internal profile connectors are the best option for extending a construction profile without affecting the appearance of the construction. In most cases, the use of a single connector is sufficient. For very high strengths of the profile extension, the screw connection of a second profile connector can be useful, especially if, for visual or constructional reasons, no transversely arranged intermediate struts are provided or possible for reinforcement. Internal profile connections with grub screws are also advantageous for constructions that are to be covered, for example as machine covers, as privacy screens or as shelters for bicycles and rubbish bins. This ensures that the panels lie evenly on the profile surface and are not obstructed by screw heads.
