Our premium silicone SILIKONprofi of our own brand in anthracite is manufactured according to the RAL colour system and corresponds to the colour code RAL7016 (anthracite grey). The silicone sealant is characterised by very good ageing resistance and has excellent adhesion to almost all materials commonly used in the construction sector and industry.

S-Polybond SILIKONprofi in RAL7016 on an alkoxy basis is 100% meco-free. This means that during the cross-linking process of our silicone, no 2-butane oximes (MEKO) are released, which are suspected of being carcinogenic. This formula of our premium silicone is therefore considered to be health and environmentally friendly. In addition, no unpleasant odours are produced, making the processing of the anthracite grey sealant pleasant and easy to handle.

Due to its excellent UV and weather resistance, our silicone has a very high resistance to ageing. Intensive sunlight, strong temperature fluctuations, moisture and mechanical stress can sometimes put joints under a lot of strain. The composition of our silicone sealant in anthracite grey allows for a high degree of flexibility in any weather conditions and thus offers first-class durability for a long time. Premature renewals due to brittle or cracked silicone joints are a thing of the past with the permanently elastic sealant of our own brand S-Polybond. Properties of the anthracite-grey alkoxy-based silicone

Our silicone sealant S-Polybond SILIKONprofi in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) is a ready-to-use, neutrally cross-linking silicone sealant in a 310ml standard cartridge. Compared to inexpensive acetate-based silicones, alcohols instead of acids are split off during the cross-linking of our alkoxy silicone. This property enables a largely odourless application. Sensitive surfaces are not attacked, which means that almost any building project can be sealed or waterproofed with our silicone sealant. Our alkoxy silicones also have decisive vorteils over OXIM-based silicones, because no MEKO are released during cross-linking. The silicones of our own brand S-Polybond are therefore absolutely MEKO-free. This means that our alkoxy silicones are harmless to health and can be used both indoors and outdoors. SILIKONprofi is classified as very low emission (A+) according to the VOC+ emission test. The silicone also is manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14000:2004.

Due to the very high pigmentation with high-quality colour pigments, our premium sealing compound in the colour anthracite offers perfect colour fastness according to the RAL colour system (RAL 7016). The vorteil of the RAL colour system is that uniform colouring of products, e.g. in the construction industry, is guaranteed, so that, for example, the matching silicone sealant in the same RAL colour anthracite grey can be found for a window frame in the colour RAL 7016 without a long search. We attach great importance to the best possible quality in terms of colour and viscosity of our silicones from S-Polybond. This is ensured by constant monitoring before and during production through quality controls.

Thanks to the perfectly matched viscosity, our premium silicone in the RAL7016 colour shade is characterised by very good workability. The ideal processing temperature of the sealant is between +5°C and +30°C with a processing time of 10 minutes. After processing and curing, our silicone sealant in the colour anthracite has a temperature resistance of -50°C to +150°C and is therefore not only enormously frost-resistant but can also be used permanently at very high outdoor temperatures. The excellent resistance to weathering offers unsurpassed sealing protection, even under heavy mechanical loads. Thanks to its outstanding UV resistance, our silicone in anthracite grey is perfectly suited for outdoor applications and is characterised by very high ageing resistance, so that the effort required to renew maintenance joints in structural waterproofing can be significantly reduced.

With its water-repellent properties and fungicidal finish, our SILIKONprofi offers the perfect solution for interior waterproofing in sanitary areas and kitchens. Water and moisture can thus not penetrate into joints or behind building structures and effectively prevents mould growth.

Processing of the silicone SILIKONprofi in anthracite grey

S-Polybond SILIKONprofi can be applied with any conventional application gun. Our sealant is injected evenly into the joint, during which care should be taken to ensure that enough silicone is used and that excess material can be removed in the smoothing process. This is the only way to ensure sufficient adhesion to the flanks. The joint should not be completely filled with silicone, otherwise a 3-flank adhesion will occur, which has a negative effect on the elasticity of the joint and can reduce the permanent flank adhesion. For joints with a high joint depth, we recommend the use of round cords as filling material, this way a reduction of the depth is achieved. Excessive joint depth can reduce the elasticity of the joint, whereas too little joint depth can result in a cohesive fracture of the joint.

As a high-quality sealant, our grey silicone has excellent adhesion, even without primer, to almost all materials used in construction and industry. The most common building materials include glass, tiles, ceramics, concrete, plastics or even treated and untreated wood and many more. This makes our silicone perfect for sealing and waterproofing a wide variety of materials. Thanks to the excellent elasticity of the permanently elastic sealant, expansion joints in materials with strongly differing coefficients of thermal expansion, for example wood and masonry, can also be excellently sealed against draughts and water penetration. On porous materials, for example aerated concrete, a primer can be used as an adhesion promoter to improve the adhesion of the silicone.

It is also important to ensure that the joints are thoroughly cleaned of dust, dirt and grease before applying the silicone to ensure perfect and seamless flank adhesion of the silicone to the surfaces. Do not use corrosive silicone removers or cleaning oils for cleaning, as these can severely impair the adhesion of silicone sealants. We recommend using a suitable cleaner to clean the surfaces; in addition, it is essential that the surface is dry.

When used as an adhesive, the silicone should be applied in dots or in the form of waves or strips to the surfaces to be bonded. The surfaces should be pressed firmly together and fixed after applying SILIKONprofi to prevent the assembly parts from slipping during the drying process and thus achieve the desired result. During the processing and curing of our sealant, care should be taken to ensure sufficient air supply, this applies both when using it as a sealant of permanently elastic joints and when using it as an adhesive.

NOTE: The storage of the silicone sealant SILIKONprofi should always be hermetically sealed, in a dry, cool place at temperatures between +5 and +25°C. Deviating temperatures may cause a reduction of the shelf life.

Application examples for our premium silicone in anthracite

The areas of application for our silicone sealant S-Polybond SILIKONprofi are extremely versatile. It is used for sealing, sealing and bonding indoors as well as outdoors. For outdoor applications, silicone joints must withstand even adverse weather conditions such as acid rain or strong UV radiation. Our silicone is UV-resistant and extremely weatherproof and is therefore perfect for outdoor sealing, for example for cladding with our HPL panels, which are also available from us in anthracite grey (RAL 7016). As a permanently elastic silicone with a permissible deformation of 25%, our premium silicone in anthracite is perfect for expansion joints of all kinds and contributes to a long-lasting structural seal due to its exceptionally good resistance to ageing. Expansion joints made of our silicone do not fade or become brittle even after long outdoor use, which means that early maintenance or renewal of the joint can be bypassed. Window and door profiles are very often made of anthracite grey aluminium or PVC. For wall connection joints between masonry and window profiles or door frames, our silicone is ideally suited and provides a highly elastic and durable seal against unwanted draughts or moisture penetration, even in the case of strong temperature fluctuations.

In the interior, the silicone of our own brand S-Polybond is often used in kitchen construction due to its physiological harmlessness. There, for example, it is used for hygienic connection joints between wall and worktop or sealants between sink and worktop, where it offers extremely good protection against the penetration of dirt and moisture. Due to the water-repellent and fungus-inhibiting properties of our alkoxy silicone, it is also ideally suited for use in sanitary areas. Anthracite grey is a particularly popular colour for bathroom and wellness area furnishings. Walls and floors are often designed by laying anthracite grey tiles, whether in large format in a trendy slate look or as a fine mosaic of glazed mosaic tiles. Our highly pigmented silicone in the colour RAL 7016 is the perfect choice for these projects and enables inconspicuous sealing with long durability. For transition joints, for example between wall and bathtub or flooring and shower tray, our high-quality silicone is just as suitable and provides a secure seal, even in the case of intensive and continuous exposure to moisture.

Our silicone in anthracite is also suitable for bonding materials with different expansion coefficients. For example, a wooden skirting board, which expands and contracts considerably with changing temperatures, can be attached to a solid clinker wall without any problems. Mirrors can also be attached to plastered walls or lacquered cabinet fronts without drilling holes using our silicone. Care should always be taken to ensure that the parts to be bonded are sufficiently fixed, as otherwise they could slip and not bond in the desired position. Corrections are still possible as long as the skin has not yet formed due to cross-linking. When bonding components with a high weight or objects on which a strong tensile force acts, we recommend using our ultra-strong MS polymer adhesive and sealant Parabond 600 in grey, which is characterised by its enormous initial adhesion.

CAUTION: Although the silicone in anthracite has a very good adhesion to natural stone, the compatibility of the sealant should be tested in advance on an inconspicuous spot to exclude edge discolouration on the usually very sensitive surfaces of untreated natural stone.
