The absolutely MEKO-free premium silicone SILIKONprofi in transparent is a neutral-curing adhesive and sealant of our own brand S-Polybond, which is characterised by an almost odourless processing and is therefore ideally suited for numerous indoor applications. Due to its excellent resistance to UV radiation and weathering, the permanently elastic silicone is also ideal for ageing-resistant waterproofing of buildings outdoors.

The colourless adhesive and sealant is subject to constant quality control during and after filling in order to meet the high demands of professional users in terms of viscosity and elasticity. As a result, our colourless silicone impresses with its excellent workability and first-class adhesion to almost all materials used in the construction sector and industry. Properties of the transparent alkoxy-based silicone

For interior applications, our alkoxy silicone has significant advantages over conventional sealants. On the one hand, this is the odour formation, because while a strong and unpleasant vinegar odour arises during the processing and curing of acetate silicones that crosslink with vinegar, this process is largely odourless with our neutral-cross linking silicone in transparent. On the other hand, 2-butanone oximes are usually split off in commercial sealants based on OXIM. These are also known as MEKOs and are suspected of promoting the formation of cancer cells. Thanks to its absolutely MEKO-free formula, our colourless silicone is physiologically harmless and can even be used in poorly ventilated indoor spaces.

Due to its first-class weatherproof properties, the transparent silicone is optimally suited for permanent outdoor applications. With an enormous temperature resistance of -50°C to +150°C, it can be used equally well in all climate zones. It can withstand the deepest frost, strong temperature fluctuations and the most adverse weather conditions, such as acid rain, without any problems. The premature formation of yellowing or cracks in the transparent joints is not to be feared with our permanently elastic silicone, even under intensive and long-lasting sunlight. This keeps building maintenance costs significantly low, as premature renewal of the maintenance joints with our ageing-resistant sealant is no longer necessary.

In damp rooms, conditions are ideal for the development of mould, which can also necessitate the premature replacement of silicone joints. Thanks to its fungicidal finish, the colourless silicone of our own brand S-Polybond is particularly suitable for long-lasting sealants and sealants in sanitary facilities, private and commercial kitchens, as well as in basement rooms. Despite persistent and heavy exposure to moisture, mould formation is effectively prevented while ensuring reliable and hygienic sealing protection.

The neutral-curing alkoxy silicone is free of acids and solvents and can therefore be used on almost all conceivable materials. In addition to wood, concrete, clinker and steel, this is even the case on sensitive materials such as glass, plastic, enamel, glazed tiles, ceramics and many more. Thanks to its enormous elasticity, the durability of the colourless premium sealant is also extremely good on products with different coefficients of thermal expansion. The glass rebate sealant between a multiple glazing made of real glass and a glazing bead made of wood can thus be implemented excellently.

Processing of silicone SILIKONprofi in Transparent

Our versatile silicone in transparent is ideal for sealing and sealing, as well as for simple bonding. Careful preparation of the surfaces is always advisable to ensure perfect adhesion of the adhesive and sealant. For this purpose, all deposits such as dust, grease, oil and dirt should be thoroughly removed. Suitable cleaning agents are, for example, conventional vinegar and citrus cleaners, whereas the use of cleaning oils or corrosive silicone removers is not advisable. Finally, the cleaned surfaces should be dried well with a lint-free cloth. In addition, for optimum workability, ensure that the temperatures in the working area are between +5°C and +30°C.

The extremely easy-to-apply silicone in transparent is available ready-to-use in a 310ml standard cartridge and can be applied without great effort using a conventional skeleton gun. To seal or caulk, the colourless sealant is sprayed into the joint in an even motion and sufficient dosage. Excess material is removed in the subsequent smoothing process using a joint filler. This ensures ideal flank adhesion and an even appearance of the joint surface. The use of a suitable smoothing agent can additionally facilitate this process and optimise the result. Taking the application temperature into account, the skin begins to form after a period of approximately 10 minutes.

Our transparent silicone is also very suitable for bonding parts with a large bonding surface or a relatively low own weight. It should be noted that the adhesive and sealant hardens with contact to air humidity and should therefore not be applied over the entire surface, but rather selectively. After the adhesive has been applied, the parts to be bonded are fixed in the desired position and pressed firmly together until the colourless silicone has completely hardened. The use of screw clamps or weights can be quite helpful here. If parts with a heavy weight or objects with a strong tensile force are to be permanently joined, the use of an assembly adhesive is recommended. The MS-Polymer Parabond in Transparent available in our shop is an ultra-strong adhesive and sealant that is characterised by its enormous initial adhesion and very high adhesive strength. This is perfectly suitable for demanding bonding applications.

NOTE: Optimum storage time of the sealant is achieved by keeping it in a dry place at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. In addition, the cartridge should always be sealed airtight after use.

In addition, due to the absolutely MEKO-free formula, there is no risk to fish or reptiles from harmful substances. In addition to aquariums, room dividers made of glass blocks are also a highly decorative option for interior design. For sealing these partitions, our neutral-curing alkoxy-based silicone is first-class. CAUTION: The transparent alkoxy silicone has good durability on natural stone. However, untreated natural stone may be prone to joint edge discolouration, so compatibility should be checked in advance on an inconspicuous area or a leftover piece.
