Our washers are suitable for our balcony screws with M5 thread, which we offer in many different colours and lengths in different sets as well as loose, as individual screws. The washers are made of stainless steel in an A2 alloy and are manufactured according to ISO 7093. The washers are used between the balcony railing and the lock nut, which we offer in our shop as a high version with a closed cap - i.e. as a cap nut - in the size M5.
Like all screws, rivets and small parts in the shop, the washers are also available individually, in any quantity.
NOTE: Our balcony screw sets with cap nut already include a washer. For the balcony screw sets with threaded sleeve, however, no additional washer is required.
The washers do not necessarily have to be used for balcony screws, but can be used with all screws up to a diameter of 5mm in order to finish the bearing surface for fastenings with screws, nuts, or a combination of both. Thanks to stainless steel, this applies equally to indoor and outdoor use.
The washers are made of a high-quality A2 stainless steel alloy. This steel alloy is characterised by enormous corrosion resistance and very good wear resistance. Properties that are particularly important when mounting heavy facade panels on a balcony railing. This ensures that the fasteners of the balcony railings do not have to be replaced after a certain time because they have rusted and can no longer withstand the load.
The thickness of the washers is 1.2mm, which makes them extremely stable. With an outer diameter of 15mm, as well as a hole diameter of 5.3mm, the contact surface of the cap nut of a balcony screw is significantly increased, which results in optimal load distribution. However, this load distribution is not only advantageous when installing balcony surrounds with balcony screws and cap nuts, but also when fastening with dowel screws. Washers are particularly useful here when higher loads are mounted or high tightening torques are required.
Washers are primarily used in front of a nut or a cap nut on a threaded bolt to increase the usually small bearing surface of the nut so that it does not press into the material. This distributes the load of an assembly object over the enlarged support, so that the risk of chipping in a panel is also reduced. With our washers for balcony screws made of stainless steel, the procedure and the intended use are identical. The balcony screw is inserted through the HPL panel or aluminium composite panel. A poly washer or a spacer sleeve is inserted between the panel and the balcony railing so that the panel can slide between the fastening points without any problems in terms of constraint-free installation. The washer is then placed on the side of the balcony railing. This is usually followed by a small spring washer that serves as an additional screw lock before the self-locking cap nut is screwed onto the screw thread.
However, the washers can not only be used for our balcony screws, but are also suitable for all fixings that are to be carried out with matching screws in wood, on the wall or ceiling. Possible reasons for using a washer are, for example, a substrate with lower surface strength, as is the case with softer softwood, plasterboard or aerated concrete, or to increase the bearing surface of the screw head for heavier mounting objects. These can be wall brackets for TV sets, heavy ceiling lights or brackets for wall shelves. It is important that the screw has a maximum thread diameter of 5mm and a screw head diameter of at least 6mm. If the screw thread is too large, the screw will not fit through the hole in the washer. If the screw head is too small, it will slip through the hole. In both cases, a suitable screw or another washer must be used.
