Our self-adhesive aluminium adjustment profiles are available in silver, anthracite metallic, grey metallic or bronze metallic. The solid aluminium profile with a width of 38mm and a length of 100cm has a finely grooved surface. As adjustment profiles, these compensate for height differences of 4mm to 11mm and are suitable for indoor floor coverings with a smooth, non-porous surface. The self-adhesive backing ensures secure adhesion to all standard flooring materials, such as tiles, parquet, natural stone or even bonded vinyl flooring.
The finely grooved, silky matt gloss surface of the adjustment profiles in silver, as well as the versions with a highly decorative metallic effect, are individually shrink-wrapped in a robust film to protect them from transport damage. To prevent dirt from adhering or the shrink wrap from sticking to the adhesive surfaces, these are also protected with a yellow backing film, which can be easily removed just before the levelling profile is applied to the substrate.
TIP: Aluminium is a light metal that is very easy to work with. Aluminium can be cut to the desired size using a simple handsaw with a saw blade for metal, for example. A cross-cut saw makes cutting to size even easier and ensures a precise, straight cut.
Our finely grooved adjustment profiles made of anodised aluminium in silver or with attractive metallic decors have a width of 38mm and a total length of 1000mm. The material thickness of the solid aluminium profile is approx. 1.8mm and is characterised by its high robustness and inherent rigidity. The height of the profile is approx. 6.5mm but varies depending on the inclination to compensate for height differences between neighbouring floor coverings where the profile is used as a transition. A powerful adhesive, which is applied along the edges, enables quick and easy installation. Bonding the profile to the floor coverings along the entire length of the adjustment profile limits the expansion of the floor and profile in the event of temperature fluctuations. Although the adhesive is elastic to a certain extent, excessive changes in size, e.g. of floating laminate or the aluminium profile outdoors, can cause the bond to deteriorate. This means that the profiles should only be used indoors and on solid surfaces. It is also advisable to allow the profiles to acclimatise sufficiently to room temperature before gluing them to the floor. In contrast to this, our adaptation profiles with slat dowels for concealed installation can be used with floating floor coverings as well as outdoors without hesitation.
The self-adhesive adjustment profile is suitable for height levelling of at least 4mm to a maximum of 11mm. Due to the profile cross-section and the arrangement of the adhesive strips, a minimum difference between the respective floor coverings is required in contrast to our profile with slatted dowels. If this value is undershot, the geometry is no longer correct, meaning that the adhesive no longer achieves a sufficient contact surface on the edge that is aligned with the lower substrate, which has an impact on the quality of the adhesion. A difference between the upper and lower floor covering of more than 11mm has a similar effect.
NOTE: All of our self-adhesive adjustment profiles are only suitable for indoor use, because even if they are made of anodised aluminium with excellent corrosion resistance, strong temperature differences have an effect on metals, resulting in a slight change in length. This can sometimes have a negative effect on the durability of the bonding, which is why our profiles with self-adhesive bonding should not be used for outdoor applications.
Handling is basically child's play and consists of a maximum of four steps. Measure, cut to size, clean the mounting surface and stick on the profile. If the adjustment profile is used in its entire length of one metre, there is no need to cut it to size, which significantly simplifies application and installation. No drilling or screwing is required thanks to the self-adhesive system.
Special attention must be paid when cutting the aluminium matching profiles to size. These have a front side for the lower mounting surface and a rear side for the higher mounting surface. This can be recognised somewhat better in the profile cross-section view, as a higher contact surface with an almost triangular shape can be seen on the front edge. When measuring and marking, it is therefore important to ensure that these steps are carried out from the correct side before cutting the profile. Any commercially available hand saw with a metal saw blade is suitable for shortening. Due to the profile thickness of 1.8mm and the light metal, this does not involve a great deal of effort. Cutting is quicker and more precise with a cross-cut saw.
NOTE: An adhesive is only as good as the surface to which it is to adhere. The adhesive applied to both sides of the aluminium adjustment profiles is no exception, so it is strongly recommended that the surfaces are cleaned of dust and dirt and thoroughly wiped dry before installation. Only then can the adhesive develop its enormous adhesive strength.
After cleaning, the profile can be fitted in the desired position. To do this, remove the yellow protective film covering the adhesive surfaces from the underside of the profile and position the adjustment profile. The best way to do this is to place the entire length of the profile with the front edge first on the lower floor covering. Two small markings on the left and right can be useful for precise alignment. Now carefully tilt the profile across the width onto the higher floor covering without slipping until the two adhesive strips are in contact with the surfaces. Pressing firmly along the entire length is all that is needed to complete the installation of the adjustment profile.
WARNING: Before fitting, the profile should be acclimatised to room temperature, as metals expand when heated, which can impair the bond if fitted directly and with high temperature differences.
