40mm aluminium floor profiles with centrally countersunk holes

High-quality anodization ✓ Also for outdoor use ✓ Incl. mounting material ✓

The perforated 40mm aluminium floor profiles are available in 1000mm lengths in the colours silver, sahara, gold or matt stainless steel. The solid extruded floor profiles are made of a high-quality aluminium alloy with a silky matt sheen thanks to the coloured anodised surfaces. The floor profiles for screwing in are therefore extremely corrosion-resistant and particularly suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. For easy installation, the curved profiles are drilled in the centre and provided with a countersink so that the screws supplied are flush with the profile surface after installation.

The mounting material, consisting of six countersunk screws and six plastic expansion plugs, is included in the scope of delivery. These are clamped in a plastic blister so that the screws do not fly around inside the shrink-packaging during transport. The shrink packaging consists of a robust film that protects the silky matt surfaces of the smooth floor profile from damage. Safe is safe.

NOTE: A drill with a Ø5mm drill bit and a PH2 Phillips screwdriver are required to fit the perforated floor profile. If the profiles need to be cut to size, a handsaw with a metal saw blade or a mitre saw is also required.

Properties of the perforated 40mm aluminium floor profile

The 40mm aluminium floor profile has a continuous smooth surface with a satin finish in silver, sahara, gold or stainless steel look. This is only interrupted by the perforations for mounting to screw the profile to the substrate. A slight curvature across the entire width results in a total height of 4.6mm and is therefore extremely flat, so that the floor profile is by no means a tripping hazard and also causes no problems for rollators, wheelchairs or vacuum robots when driving over it. The 40mm wide and 1000mm long profile has a material thickness of 1.7mm and is made of solid aluminium, which has very good corrosion resistance as well as enormous strength against bending. In order to increase the rigidity even further, an inconspicuous groove was added along the outer edges of the drilled holes during the construction of the profile, which has a reinforcing effect. However, this is located on the underside so as not to detract from the flawlessly smooth appearance of the visible side.

The main difference to the self-adhesive floor profiles in 40mm x 1000mm with smooth, curved surface is the much more extensive area of application. By screwing the profiles together, it is also possible to use them with floating, loose floor coverings such as laminate, click vinyl or carpet. Furthermore, they can even be used outdoors without any restrictions, as the aluminium alloy is characterised by good weather resistance, the weatherproof properties of which are further improved by the anodised surfaces.

The aluminium floor profiles with countersunk holes in a total length of one metre have 6 such mounting holes, the countersinking of which is optimally matched to the countersunk head screws so that they are perfectly flush with the smooth surface. The holes are centred within the width so that there is a projection of 20mm on each side of the profile, which allows a transition with a gap of around 30mm. The necessary screws and plugs are included with every perforated floor profile and are supplied in sufficient quantities. The screws are partially threaded screws in the size Ø3.5 x 25mm with countersunk head in Ø6mm diameter and Phillips® drive. The matching plastic expansion plugs with a length of 25mm are suitable for holes with a diameter of 5mm.

Application and installation of the aluminium floor profiles for screwing

The perforated profiles are screwed to the substrate using screws and plugs. Up to six holes must be drilled for a 1 metre profile. Depending on whether drilling is required in concrete, screed, tiles, stone or hard wood, an impact drill or cordless screwdriver with a suitable drill bit is required. The diameter of the drill bit should be 5mm so that the screws and plugs supplied can be used for installation. A simple screwdriver size PH2 (not PZ2) is required to screw in the screws. However, before drilling, a measurement should be taken to check whether the profile can be used in its entirety. If the measurement result shows that the perforated profile needs to be shortened, a standard hacksaw with a metal saw blade will suffice. It is easier and more precise with a mitre saw, if available. If you want to be very precise and keep the distances to the outer holes in the profile the same, you cannot avoid cutting off half of the dimension to be shortened on one side and half on the other when shortening the profile.

TIP: Instead of laboriously measuring each drill hole position, the profile can also simply be laid with the visible side on the substrate and the positions of the holes transferred with a pencil. However, you should then also ensure that the sides are not swapped when the length of the profile has been adjusted.

The holes must be drilled using a 5mm drill bit, which must be selected to match the mounting surface. This is the only way to use the supplied mounting material. When drilling, make sure that the drill bit is straight. Crooked drill holes can mean that the screw head cannot be screwed into the profile completely flat. Now insert the small dowels into the drilled holes until they are flush with the edge of the drilled hole and then lag the profile on the floor so that the holes in the profile are exactly above the drilled holes. In the final step, the supplied Phillips screws can be screwed through the profile into the dowel’s underneath until the countersunk head of the screw is flush with the centre of the countersunk hole in the profile. For countersunk screws with Phillips drive ®, a screwdriver or screwdriver bit in the size PH2 is required and the perfect choice.

Application examples of our perforated aluminium floor profiles
