Protect your vehicle and garage wall with a wall and impact protection made of impact-resistant and durable polyethylene. We tell you what to look out for, how to determine the perfect size for your wall protection and how to attach it.
Parking your car in your garage at home has many advantages, because on the one hand the vehicle is protected from car thieves and vandals, and on the other hand the vehicle is not constantly exposed to the weather.
You don't have to scrape free icy windows in winter and you don't have to worry about damaging the vehicle in heavy hail or storms.
However, most garages and parking spaces in underground garages are quite tight, so parking requires a bit more concentration. After all, you don't want to risk scratching your vehicle.
Even getting out of the car can cause some damage to the paintwork or a dent, because it is easy to open the door with too much momentum and then accidentally bump into the garage wall.
Such small moments of carelessness are not only annoying, but can also cost a lot of money. Even if such minor paint damage looks inconspicuous at first glance, it can be quite costly to paint.
Such small moments of carelessness are not only annoying but can also be quite expensive.
With a wall and impact protection made of impact-resistant plastic on the garage wall, such damage is a thing of the past.
You can protect both your garage wall and your vehicle from damage with our plastic panels made of 19mm thick weatherproof polyethylene grained on both sides, which is characterised by very good impact resistance and good sliding properties.
The dimensions for an individual wall and impact protection depend on a few factors. Firstly, the length of your garage is of course decisive. However, the wall protection does not have to be installed along the entire length of your garage. It is sufficient to determine the areas where the vehicle doors are located after parking. When doing so, also plan a small buffer area in front of and behind it, because you will certainly not always park your car in exactly the same position.
TIP: Allow for a little leeway, because perhaps you will purchase a larger or more compact vehicle in the future, or change from a model with 2/3 doors to a 4/5-door model.
A wall and impact protection that is either too high or too low will not protect you from damaging the vehicle if you open the door with a little too much momentum. Therefore, the right height is crucial when attaching the plastic strips made of polyethylene.
To determine the correct height, park your vehicle in the garage, carefully open the door so that it almost makes contact with the wall and measure the height at which the door would touch the wall with a folding rule (folding rule) or tape measure.
If your vehicle has doors in the rear, you should also determine this height, because it may differ.
Now you have determined not only the height at which the plastic strips should be fitted, but also the height at which they should be cut.
If you only have a two-door unit, or all side doors touch the wall at the same height, it is sufficient to choose a height of about 10cm-20cm. A height that is too low could cause a dent in the door if it bumps too hard against it, which is not the case with a more flat contact. In addition, the loading of the vehicle by luggage, shopping and ultimately the passengers must be taken into account, which contribute to the vehicle bouncing in and out.
For vehicles with more than one door on each side of the vehicle, or different heights of the contact points, the height of the bumper should be chosen so that it covers the area from the lower and upper contact point plus a buffer of 10-15cm.
Example:
The driver's door touches the wall at a height of about 45cm, but the rear driver's side door touches the wall at a height of about 53cm, then the bumper should have the area of 8cm plus the buffer of 15cm a total height of 23cm.
First of all, you need the appropriate tools. A spirit level, a tape measure, a pencil for marking, an impact drill and fastening materials.
You already know the height of the contact points, so you can mark them (if there is more than one door on each driver's side, the average of the two heights) with a spirit level on the wall by drawing a line.
Then use a cordless screwdriver to drill holes for the fastening in the plastic strips made of polyethylene. A diameter of 5 mm for the drill and a distance of about 50 cm between the holes are sufficient. Now enlarge the drill hole by using a drill bit that is slightly larger than the screw head itself.
CAUTION: Do not drill completely through the panel, but only so far that the screw head is flush with the panel.
Then hold the pre-drilled wall protection against the wall and transfer the drill holes to the wall. Now drill the fixing holes in the garage wall using a percussion drill and a 6 mm drill bit for stone and fit them with suitable dowels.
The last step is to screw the wall protection in place.
In the last step, screw the wall protection to the garage wall with suitable screws.
In our online shop, we stock suitable polyethylene sheets in various colours that are perfect as wall and impact protection. Thanks to our cut-to-size configurator, these can be conveniently ordered online to the exact millimetre according to your requirements.
If desired, it is also possible to provide the edges of the wall and impact protection with a bevel or rounded edges. Pre-drilling of the fastening holes is also quite possible thanks to our milling service. However, as the dimensions vary from vehicle to vehicle and garage to garage, we cannot offer this service across the board via the online shop. However, you are welcome to send us your specific enquiry with the necessary dimensions by email and we will calculate your personal and low-priced offer for your wall and impact protection as quickly as possible.
