Facade screw for Trespa® Meteon® Steel Grey (A21.7.0)

Weatherproof paint ✓ Stainless steel ✓

Our facade screws with partial thread in the size Ø 5.5x35mm, have a round, flat screw head with a diameter of 12mm. This is painted in Steel Grey (A21.7.0) with a satin finish in the same colour for inconspicuous installation of Trespa® Meteon® UNI COLOURS facade panels. This is a topcoat with very good UV and weather resistance. For an easy and force-saving installation, the screws are equipped with a Torx drive in size TX20, which allows an easy processing without slipping or spinning of the screwdriver. Like all our facade screws, the steel grey screws are also made of a stainless A4 steel alloy, which is characterised by even better acid and corrosion resistance compared to simple screws made of A2 steel.

We sell all screws in any number of pieces and deliberately dispense with annoying packaging units or minimum purchase quantities.

The A4 steel facade screws comply with the fastener requirements of the general type approval of Trespa® Meteon® panels for the erection of ventilated facade systems outdoors. This means that the screws comply with DIN EN 14592, which makes them permissible for the application purpose of mounting facade panels on wooden support battens.

NOTE: For the processing of the facade screws with modern Torx or hexagon socket drive, a corresponding bit in size TX20 (or ISR20) is required, which we also offer in the shop at favourable graduated prices starting at one bit.

Properties of our HPL screws in Steel Grey

We offer the steel-grey screws as fastening material for Trespa® Meteon® facade panels for the construction of ventilated facade systems in outdoor areas. In order for the screws to be used for this purpose, they must comply with the general type approval of the Trespa® Meteon® panels. This states, among other things, that the screws must have a head diameter of 12mm and comply with the DIN EN 14592 standard. The lacquering of the screw head is irrelevant. The length of the screw shank and thread, as well as its diameter, are, however, an important component. With a threadless shank of 10mm, the screws are suitable for fastening facade panels made of HPL up to 8mm. The thread with a length of 25 mm and a diameter of 5.5 mm ensures a sufficiently high load-bearing capacity when used as intended in wooden substructures. For exterior facades, it is also very important that the screws do not rust and thus lose their load-bearing capacity over time. For this reason, our screws are made of high-quality A4 steel, which does not rust or corrode even near the coast in air enriched with salt from seawater or acid rain.

The dark grey of the head lacquer exactly matches the colour of the Trespa® Meteon® UNI COLOURS facade panels in Steel Grey (A21.7.0). The silky sheen of the lacquer finish is also matched to the panels and corresponds to the surfaces with satin finish. In order to be able to use the facade screws outdoors without hesitation, the lacquer finish consists of a UV and weather-resistant paint that does not fade even under adverse weather conditions and prolonged UV radiation.

Mounting of facade panels with our facade screws

The installation of facade panels with our facade screws is subject to certain standards. When installing ventilated facade systems with Trespa® Meteon® FR UNI COLOURS, the relevant general construction type approval is decisive, which defines, among other things, the thickness and quality of the wooden support battens as a substructure, as well as the way in which the panels must be attached to the substructure. In the case of HPL panels, which expand when exposed to sunlight, it is imperative that they are installed without restraint in order to ensure that the panels have sufficient scope for thermal expansion. This means that for each panel, one fixing must be drilled as a fixed point using a 6mm HPL drill bit and the remaining fixings must be drilled using an 8mm drill bit. These larger holes in the panel are the so-called sliding point fixings. The substructure, on the other hand, is not pre-drilled. To allow the panels to expand between the mounting points, the screws must not be tightened too much. As soon as the screw head rests on the panel, the screw should not be tightened any further.

The number of fasteners depends on certain factors. First and foremost, the dimensions of a particular panel, in terms of length, width and thickness, indicate how many screws are needed to mount the panel. The maximum distance between the individual fasteners varies depending on the panel thickness. For an 8mm panel made of high-pressure laminate (HPL), a distance of up to 700mm is permissible, which must be reduced to a maximum of 600mm for a panel thickness of 6mm. In the case of higher tensile loads, which are all present with panel overhangs in combination with wind, the distances must be reduced again. The general type approval specifies exactly how high the distances between the screw connections may be. In addition, it defines how far the screws may be positioned from the edge for mounting the panels. The minimum distance of 20 mm applies to all panels, regardless of panel thickness. The maximum distance from the edge of the panel, on the other hand, is again determined by the thickness and is ten times the panel thickness. For an 8mm Trespa® Meteon® FR panel in Steel Grey, this results in an edge distance of at least 20mm up to a maximum of 80mm.

However, the screws do not necessarily have to be used for exterior cladding, because the colour-matching panels in Steel Grey from the Trespa® Meteon® UNI COLOURS collection can also be used for countless purposes. The intensive, dark grey of the panels is, for example, extremely trendy as a front or side panel of stylish furniture and furnishings. With a thickness of 8 mm, the high-quality panels are also stable enough for small shelves, picture rails or table tops.

The facade screws of our own brand S-Polytec are not from Trespa®, but are permitted for facade cladding with Trespa®, Meteon® panels. Trespa® is a registered trademark of Trespa International.
