Our black polyethylene sheets are made of PE-HD (high density) with a high density and have a smooth, deep black surface. Our black PE sheets in the standard format of 2.0x1.0 metres, are available in thicknesses from 1mm-100mm. The PE standard sheets are delivered on a pallet and consist exclusively of solid core material. This means that the sheets do not contain a foamed polyethylene core but consist of solid sheet material. A continuous colouring ensures that both cut and sawn edges as well as the surfaces of the black polyethylene sheets have the same colour. As an engineering plastic, our standard black polyethylene sheets do not have a protective film.

NOTE: As an engineering plastic, polyethylene is not recommended for optical purposes because the smooth, black surface scratches relatively easily.

Properties of our polyethylene sheets in black

Polyethylene is characterised by very good chemical resistance, which is why our black PE-HD sheets are very often used in the manufacture of containers or housings in chemical plants. Polyethylene is also very impact resistant, even at low temperatures, thanks to its insensitivity to frost. The good sliding properties, as well as the very long service life, contribute to the fact that polyethylene is used in particular in machine and plant construction, or in conveyor technology. Last but not least, polyethylene has various approvals for use in the food and drinking water sector, so that the food industry also prefers to use this plastic.

Processing of polyethylene (PE-HD) in black

Our plastic sheets made of black polyethylene, are very easy to process without the need for special tools or machines. Using standard woodworking tools, such as a jigsaw (or circular saw), our black PE sheets can be cut to the desired size in standard format. Cuts can also be made using a CO2 laser cutting machine or a water jet cutting machine. Turning or milling polyethylene is just as unproblematic and a simple cordless screwdriver with a metal drill bit in the desired size is also sufficient for drilling.

Polyethylene has a very good chemical resistance. For this reason, the black PE-HD sheets cannot be painted, printed or covered with a film. Gluing with normal plastic adhesives is also not possible with polyethylene, which is why welding with an appropriate welding wire, such as our black PE welding wire in 4mm thickness, is the usual procedure for a secure and permanent connection of polyethylene to each other.

Our black polyethylene sheets have excellent thermoforming properties, making thermoforming as well as thermoforming easy.

NOTE: Polyethylene cannot be glued with conventional adhesives. For this reason, we carry the special 2-component adhesive S-Polybond PEprofi in our online shop, which was specially developed for bonding PE.
