Our light grey plastic sheets made of hard PVC are similar to the colour RAL7004 (signal grey). The light grey PVC sheets in standard format are available in thicknesses of 1,0mm – 30,0mm and have a length of 2000mm and a width of 1000mm. Our rigid PVC sheets (PVC-U) are solid sheets and not rigid foam sheets with a foamed core. Our rigid PVC sheets are manufactured in Germany and consist of 100% virgin material and are free of toxic plasticisers. Our rigid PVC sheets are completely coloured light grey, so that the cut and milled edges as well as the surfaces always have the same grey colour. The light grey sheets with a smooth surface are supplied by us without protective film.
Our light grey PVC-U sheets are not UV-resistant and are therefore not suitable for outdoor use. For outdoor use we recommend our light grey rigid PVC sheets in UV-stabilised version. In the interior, however, the inexpensive PVC sheets in light grey can be used without further ado.
PVC is a hard, dimensionally stable plastic, which has both electrically insulating properties and a fire protection approval according to DIN4102 B1 (applies to thicknesses up to 4mm). In addition, rigid PVC is considered normally impact resistant and has good chemical resistance. These properties are used especially in the construction of chemical plants, in the electrical industry or in container construction. The high stiffness of our light grey PVC sheets is another argument that the construction industry, especially in building construction, makes use of them.
Other sheet formats or thicknesses of our light grey rigid PVC are available on request.
On request, we can also supply you with other thicknesses or colours of our rigid PVC sheets which are not available in our online shop. Larger sheet formats with dimensions of 3000 x 1500mm, or cut-to-size sheets in your desired size from our light grey PVC sheets are also available on request. Simply send us your specific request by email and our staff will take care of your request as soon as possible.
We can also produce milled parts from our light grey rigid PVC.
If you need individual milled parts made of our light grey rigid PVC, this is no problem thanks to our state-of-the-art CNC milling centres with CNC control. Simply send us your enquiry with a sketch or a construction drawing stating the required quantity and we will prepare a tailor-made offer for your milled parts made of our light grey rigid PVC. All information about our milling service can be found here.
For the processing of our light grey PVC sheets made of rigid PVC, all tools that are also suitable for the processing of wood can be used. Sawing, turning or milling of our PVC sheets is possible without any problems, however, you should pay attention to a low rotational speed, because if the rotational speed is too high, the material can burn, which in case of PVC can lead to the formation of hydrochloric acid, which can damage the saw blades and tools. Conventional metal drills and a low speed are also sufficient when drilling PVC. Liquid soap has proved to be a good coolant and lubricant in practice to prevent the material from burning. PVC can also be processed very well by punching or water jet cutting.
Rigid PVC is a thermoplastic and therefore also very suitable for thermoforming, i.e. forming under the influence of heat. However, it is important to ensure that the temperatures for thermoforming or deep drawing are not too high, so that the material does not burn.
Our plastic sheets made of light grey rigid PVC can be printed using the direct printing process. Please note, however, that printing on light grey PVC sheets is less colourfast and brilliant than a comparable print on our white PVC sheets. Laminating with a film or digital printing is problem-free and common practice in exhibition stand construction. Lacquering of our light grey PVC sheets is also possible, however, if higher demands are placed on the lacquer, the surfaces should be primed with a primer as an adhesion promoter.
Welding our light grey PVC sheets is no problem with the appropriate welding rod from our online shop. Also the bonding of PVC with PVC or other plastics is possible with a corresponding adhesive without any problems. As a suitable adhesive for bonding PVC to each other or to other plastics (except PTFE, PE and PP), we recommend the plastic adhesive Ruderer L530 from our online shop. Our adhesive Parabond 600 in grey is particularly suitable for bonding our light grey PVC sheets to materials from the building sector (concrete, wood, stone, tiles, etc.). With its enormous initial adhesion, it bonds even thicker sheets quickly, securely and permanently.
TIP: PVC sheets should not be processed on CO² laser equipment, as the burning of PVC produces hydrochloric acid which immediately attacks all parts of the laser equipment. All metal parts of the system would rust immediately after contact with hydrochloric acid.
