The premium silicone SILIKONprofi in light grey (RAL 7035) of our own brand S-Polybond is produced according to the RAL colour system. Regular quality controls take place during and after production, which, in addition to uniform pigmentation, also ensure a consistently high viscosity. Therefore, our silicone is very easy to process and has a very good adhesion to almost all materials commonly used in the building sector. Even when sealing materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion, the permanently elastic silicone is perfectly suited. Thanks to the production according to the RAL system, our high-quality sealant in light grey is ideal for sealing our light grey HPL panels, which are available in the shop cut to the exact millimetre.

Our high-quality alkoxy-based silicone is absolutely MEKO-free and is characterised by excellent resistance to UV radiation and weathering. Therefore, it is suitable for permanent outdoor use without hesitation. As our sealant is neutrally cross-linked, there is no significant odour during and after processing. Because of this, it can be used indoors without hesitation, even in rather poorly ventilated rooms.

Properties of the light grey alkoxy-based silicone

The premium silicone of our own brand S-Polybond in the colour RAL 7035 is available ready-to-use in a 310ml standard cartridge. Compared to acetate-based silicones, our one-component alkoxy-based sealant releases alcohols instead of acids during cross-linking. Processing and curing therefore take place without the formation of strong, unpleasant odours. In comparison to conventional OXIM-based silicones, no 2-butane oxides are released during the cross-linking process of our alkoxy silicone. These are also known as MEKOs and are suspected of being carcinogenic. Thanks to the absolutely MEKO-free formula, our silicone is harmless to health and environmentally friendly. In addition, it has been classified as particularly low emission (A+) according to the VOC+ emission test. For this reason, it can be used without hesitation for almost all conceivable applications indoors and outdoors. Furthermore, our sealant is manufactured according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14000:2004.

Our silicone SILIKONprofi is manufactured with high-quality, intensive colour pigments and corresponds to the RAL colour light grey (RAL7035). The RAL colour system is frequently used in the construction sector and enables an optimal colour match of the materials to be used. Our sealant in light grey is therefore the perfect choice for sealing wall claddings made of our light grey HPL panels, which are also produced according to the RAL colour system. Window profiles made of PVC, patio doors or patio roofing made of aluminium are also extremely popular in the light grey colour. Here too, our weatherproof silicone in light grey is an excellent choice for inconspicuous structural sealing to prevent moisture penetration or unwanted draughts.

The silicone in light grey has excellent UV and weather resistance and defies even the most adverse weather conditions. The permanently elastic properties are not affected by acid rain, deep frost or intense heat or sunlight. The temperature range for permanent use is between -50°C and +150°C. The excellent UV resistance as well as the outstanding ageing resistance contribute to the fact that the joints do not fade, yellow or become brittle even after many years of outdoor use. Premature renewal of the maintenance joints is therefore not to be feared, even under extreme temperature changes or strong mechanical loads.

Silicone sealants are often used for sealing and waterproofing indoors. Due to its waterproof properties, our silicone is ideally suited for sealing joints in sanitary areas or in damp rooms. Thanks to the fungicidal finish, mould formation is effectively prevented, even with prolonged exposure to moisture. In addition, our alkoxy silicones are free of solvents and can therefore also be used to seal sensitive surfaces such as shower cabins made of glass or plastic, as well as glazed tiles.

WARNING: The adhesion of our premium silicone in light grey to natural stone is very good. To rule out undesired edge discolouration on untreated natural stone during curing, compatibility should be checked in advance on an inconspicuous area or a remnant piece.

Processing from SILIKONprofi in Light grey

The silicone in light grey is very easy to apply thanks to its perfectly adjusted viscosity. A conventional cartridge press is required for applying the sealant, with which the silicone is applied evenly and sufficiently. This is followed by the smoothing process, during which excess material is removed with a joint smoother. Taking into account the processing temperature between +5°C and +30°C, skin formation begins after a time of approximately 10 minutes. After complete cross-linking, our silicone has an excellent temperature resistance of -50°C to 150°C. It is therefore absolutely frost-resistant. It is therefore absolutely frost-resistant, but can also be used permanently at high temperatures.

The adhesion of our high-quality silicone in light grey, is excellent on almost all materials commonly used in the building sector. These include glazed tiles, glass, wood, plastic (PE, PP and PTFE excluded), concrete, sand-lime brick and many more. Even when sealing materials with very different coefficients of thermal expansion, our sealant provides reliable sealing protection against the penetration of draughts or moisture. This is due to the generous permissible deformation of 25%. Therefore, permanently elastic expansion joints between a wooden parquet floor and skirting boards or a metal door frame can be easily implemented with our light grey sealant.

In order to obtain optimal adhesion of the silicone, the surfaces to be sealed or to be waterproofed must be absolutely free of dust, dirt and grease. A suitable cleaning agent should be used for cleaning, as the use of cleaning oils or corrosive silicone removers can negatively affect the flank adhesion. After the surfaces have been cleaned, they should also be thoroughly dried before starting to apply the sealant.

In addition to sealing and caulking, our silicone sealant SILIKONprofi in light grey is also suitable for bonding. To do this, the adhesive and sealant should be applied in the form of dots, strips or waves to the surfaces to be bonded to ensure that the silicone can harden through contact with the air humidity. The components are then fixed in the desired position and pressed firmly together until the adhesive and sealant have fully cured. Minor corrections can be made before the skin begins to form.

Due to its excellent UV and weather resistance, our light grey silicone is ideally suited for inconspicuous expansion joints, wall connection joints or also for sealing claddings with HPL panels in outdoor areas. Our weatherproof sealant is also ideally suited for sealing roofs made of light grey trapezoidal sheet metal and ensures a moisture-resistant and air-impermeable seal. Our silicone in RAL 7035 is frequently used in the sanitary sector in particular. Due to its fungicidal properties, it is the ideal choice for connecting joints on washbasins, toilets or bathtubs. Our sealant offers a long-lasting and waterproof seal with mould-inhibiting effect, even under the influence of strong and persistent moisture.

Our silicone in light grey is also well-suited for simple bonding of almost all materials used in construction and is used by craft professionals and hobbyists alike. For example, our adhesive and sealant is often used to securely fix metal decorative trims or wooden or ceramic end trims without drilling. If parts with a high dead weight or objects with a high tensile force are to be bonded, the use of an assembly adhesive is advisable. Please ensure sufficient ventilation at the workplace while processing the silicone in light grey (RAL7035). The safety data sheet and the information on personal protective equipment must also be observed. Adhesives and sealants should always be stored in the original sealed container and out of reach of children.
