Balcony cladding and balcony privacy screens are available in countless variations, from simple to creative, from inexpensive to high-quality. Read here about the variety and possible applications of plastic panels as durable balcony cladding.
Balcony cladding should help you, for example, to enjoy your morning breakfast on the balcony in a wind-protected environment. Protecting the view of a balcony as a privacy cladding, can also be a reason why you want a balcony cladding.
But which balcony cladding is right for you? There are countless types and designs in a wide variety of materials and sizes. Some are very inexpensive, some quite costly. There are creative, colourful or printed balcony claddings, but also plain and simple balcony claddings, in opaque or transparent designs. It is easy to get lost in the shuffle, which is why we would like to give you a brief overview.
As already mentioned, there is balcony cladding for every taste and every budget. The cheapest option is probably reed mats, which can be bought in a wide variety of sizes in any well-stocked DIY store. These can be installed quite quickly, but have the disadvantage that, depending on the weather, they rot very quickly and are no longer as attractive to look at. These mats are well suited as privacy screens, but this is at the expense of light transmission.
Fabric balcony coverings are available in countless colours and even fabrics printed with patterns or your own motifs are not uncommon these days. Fabric balcony coverings are also quite inexpensive, but here too wind and weather quickly put an end to the balcony privacy screen, so that a replacement usually has to be procured quite quickly. With balcony cladding made of wood, you have to invest a little more, but you can enjoy it for a long time if you take good care of it - after all, the wooden surfaces should be glazed or painted regularly to withstand the weather.
PVC balcony cladding is available in various designs and colours. The most common variant is certainly the rollable privacy screen consisting of individual PVC slats. This is not only inexpensive, but also comparatively durable. As with reed mats, the poor light transmission of PVC mats can be a knock-out criterion.
Anyone who attaches importance to privacy protection in balcony cladding, but wants a high level of light transmission combined with a long service life, usually has to dig quite deep into their pockets. After all, frosted glass, as one of the most common balcony claddings that meets the criteria, is not exactly cheap and can also break.
The same applies to balcony cladding made of clear glass. However, the privacy protection of balcony cladding made of clear glass must be completely disregarded, but it promises a particularly noble and high-quality look.
In our online shop, we offer you a whole range of plastic sheets that are suitable as balcony cladding or as privacy screens for balconies. From extremely scratch-resistant, transparent acrylic glass, to opal, milky-transparent acrylic glass or break-resistant polycarbonate, to opaque sheets made of aluminium composite material or ASA/ABS. Which plastic is most suitable for your balcony depends, of course, entirely on your ideas. We would like to present our plastic sheets in more detail here and show you the respective advantages and disadvantages to make the agony of choice a little easier for you.
The shatter-proof alternative to balcony cladding made of clear glass
In contrast to cladding made of real, clear glass, balcony cladding made of transparent polycarbonate is break-resistant and almost indestructible. At the same time, polycarbonate is significantly cheaper than glass and can even be ordered directly to size thanks to our cutting service. Another advantage of our UV and weather-resistant polycarbonate sheets is that you can even use them as cladding for rounded balconies. However, the surface of polycarbonate is more sensitive than glass, so it can scratch comparatively easily.
The scratch-resistant alternative to polycarbonate balcony cladding
Balcony cladding made of transparent acrylic glass is not only cheaper than conventional balcony cladding made of clear glass, but also much lighter. In addition, the light transmission of transparent acrylic sheets is even higher than that of glass. The hard surface of acrylic glass is scratch-resistant and therefore a very good alternative to polycarbonate when installing balcony cladding as a windbreak, but acrylic glass is not as shatterproof as polycarbonate and can break. Unlike glass, however, acrylic glass does not shatter.
High-quality frosted glass look, only cheaper than real glass
Opal acrylic glass combines the good properties of low weight and scratch resistance with good privacy protection, as is also guaranteed with frosted glass. However, opal acrylic glass not only offers good privacy protection, but also has very good light transmission, so that you can enjoy a balcony flooded with light. Like all of our plastic sheets, the opal acrylic glass is UV and weather resistant and therefore ideally suited for outdoor use. Opal acrylic glass does not yellow due to direct sunlight, as is the case with non-UV-resistant plastics.
The indestructible ones with building authority approval for commercial use
Plastic sheets made of high-pressure laminate have building authority approvals and can therefore be used as balcony cladding in the commercial sector. HPL panels are absolutely opaque, impermeable to light and extremely scratch-resistant. The comparatively heavy HPL panels are resistant to bending and even the most adverse environmental influences (such as acid rain). Our HPL panels, which are available in different colours such as white, silver grey, terracotta, medium grey, champagne or black, are easy to clean, so that even graffiti can be removed from the surface relatively easily.
High quality, durable, opaque and available in bright colours
Our aluminium composite panels, which, like all the plastic panels for balcony cladding presented here, you can order conveniently online in our online shop in the sizes you need, are extremely robust and, despite their low thickness of only 3mm, have very good rigidity and excellent breaking strength. Aluminium composite panels are opaque and absolutely opaque, so you can feel perfectly protected from unwanted glances. The lightweight composite panels with aluminium cover layers on both sides have a core made of polyethylene and are available in a wide variety of colours and surfaces. In our online shop, you will find both matt, white aluminium composite panels and black or silver-coloured composite panels with a fine metallic effect. Even aluminium composite panels in a high-quality stainless steel look with a brushed surface, or for the colourful among you, red, yellow or aluminium composite panels are available from us.
The inexpensive option for durable privacy protection made of plastic panels
Our plastic sheets made of white PVC are the cheapest variant among the plastic sheets that can be used as balcony cladding. Our PVC sheets are exclusively solid sheets made of hard PVC, which are 100% virgin material and do not contain any so-called plasticisers. PVC is a hard, stable plastic with a normal impact resistance. This means that it does not break too quickly. However, PVC can scratch, similar to polycarbonate. The white plastic sheets made of PVC are opaque and impermeable to light and, depending on the thickness, meet the fire protection class DIN 4102 B1 (flame retardant).
